    DEFINITELY not good for Revenge… 1.6 does not bode well.

  • diana

    ugh seriously why does revenge keep dropping maybe because this week it faced the walking dead which had 8.2 rating and 16 million viewers I hope revenge will go up next week because this Weeks episode was awasome btw @ Paris get a life ur not going to get people to watch scandal by bashing other shows

  • JoeRobby

    Is it these numbers or these plus the DVR numbers (the +7 days) that matter in the networks’ eyes?

    I ask because while Revenge isn’t doing great for live TV, it shoots up quite a bit with DVR factored in.

    The first week saw Revenge increased by 2.94 million (8.11 million to 11.05 million) and 2.3 to a 3.5 in the 18-49 range.

    The new numbers aren’t that bad.

    We still need to see what happens for weeks 2 and 3, but these updated number are worth noting. If they matter in the long run, I’m unsure.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

    I hope Red John’s final victim is the Cancellation Bear.

  • Cara

    The Good Wife and The Mentalist are still doing fine! I enjoy them both!

  • Luke21

    Revenge had 20 millions more competition from nbc than scandal, the same competition in viwers from cbs, extra competition from fox wich scandal doesn’t have and 16 millions from the walking dead. Revenge is doing great and also beat tgw

  • AllOfHerTw!st

    BBFan
    TWD may have done some damage to 9pm but it seems the NFL on NBC & NFL + ALCS on FOX did more. The BoSox have a lg natuional following. The sports have more in common with the viewers of those 9pm shows than TWD does.

    Or not. Apparently every rationale for lower ratings is now considered Fan Excuse Bingo.

  • Alvar

    The problem with Revenge isn’t The Walking Dead, it’s the show itself. People, myself included, have just lost interest and i attribute this to disappointing writing and the fact that the series is milking a limited premise – it’s just more of the same with little plot development. It should have been a 1-2 season show. This time last year it was pulling mid to high 2s with the same competition. Once still pulls out a reasonable showing up against heated competition.

  • Bee

    yeah, people have just lost interest in revenge and, to a lesser degree, OUAT. we knew it for sure when the hyped, exciting-looking season 2 2-hour finale went DOWN from the episode the week before.

    also, i’m not surprised at the decline from 2.3 to 1.6 this season either. the first two episodes were good-ish, but NOT great. i know everyone was all “OMG REVENGE IS BACK!!!” but i didn’t see it. HOWEVER, this week’s episode was awesome. so hopefully that means next week will see an increase.

    also, time to axe betrayal, ABC. and put in repeats of nashville (or scandal and put nashville repeats on tuesday nights).

  • Joe

    I have seen enough, Revenge is in TROUBLE! I don’t care how close to syndication the show is, pulling a 1.6 this early in the season is a horrible sign. Everyone said Nikita would get a 4th season no matter what as well, but that didn’t happen (six episodes can hardly be called a season) I’m calling it right now, by the February Revenge will be struggling to pull a 1.1, at which point ABC will realize a syndication deal is not worth all the money they are investing into this expensive show that no one watches. If ABC were really smart they would pull the plug on production right now and give the Revenge time slot to OUATIW, a show which could actually hold the audience of it’s great lead in. :)

  • Reprise

    @Joe
    @ If ABC were really smart they would pull the plug on production right now and give the Revenge time slot to OUATIW

    That has to be most silliest statement I’ve ever read on here. How do you come up with this stuff? Are you a failed comedian or something?

    Wonderland wouldn’t suddenly get a huge leap in viewership going after Once in the 9pm slot. Once is another show with declining viewership though it is losing viewers at a slower rate than Revenge.

    @JoeRobby
    Is it these numbers or these plus the DVR numbers (the +7 days) that matter in the networks’ eyes?

    Neither, it’s the C+3 numbers that matter; Live+SD is a much better approximation for C+3 than Live+7 is, which is why we focus on them here.

    I ask because while Revenge isn’t doing great for live TV, it shoots up quite a bit with DVR factored in.

    But so does every other show. Relative ratings matter, not absolute ratings. Revenge isn’t doing significantly better relative to the other ABC dramas or ABC’s scripted average when you look at the Live+7 ratings.

  • Ultima

    @BBFan
    but it seems the NFL on NBC & NFL + ALCS on FOX did more.

    Except that Sunday Night Football was on last week. Yes, it was up this week, but generally a rise and fall in SNF ratings is not reflected in the reverse for the entertainment programming on opposite it.

    As for the ALCS on FOX, it’s numbers aren’t much different than the normal FOX lineup. Furthermore, dating back to the 1980s, the presence of an MLB playoff game usually has the effect of increasing the competition’s ratings as a result of less entertainment programming being on.

    It’s only near the end of the World Series (or something like the ’04 ALCS) where baseball starts pulling in enough viewers to depress entertainment ratings.

  • JoeRobby

    @Ultima

    “But so does every other show. Relative ratings matter, not absolute ratings. Revenge isn’t doing significantly better relative to the other ABC dramas or ABC’s scripted average when you look at the Live+7 ratings.”

    True, but ranking-wise for the first week (the one I referenced), it was 20th for “Largest 18-49 Ratings Increase From DVR Viewing for Broadcast TV Shows”, 15th for “Largest 18-49 Percentage Increase From DVR Viewing for Broadcast TV Shows”, and 21st for “Largest Viewership Increase From DVR Viewing for Broadcast TV Shows.”

    Even if a worse approximation, they are tracked (hence the posts regarding these increases on this site and others). Since they are tracked, they matter. I’m just trying to gauge how much they matter. My comment regarding “Revenge” shooting up is in reference to the fact that it ranks high enough to be highlight (again, on this site). Not all shows rank on these lists (or on all three).

    Anyway, thanks for the response! :)

    Hmmm. I really do miss your comments in the preliminaries. ^_^

    For bragging rights, sure. For the official season averages compiled by Nielsen and the networks, sure. For improving a show’s chance of being renewed, no.

    My comment regarding “Revenge” shooting up is in reference to the fact that it ranks high enough to be highlight

    Except that every other ABC drama was also on the list except the already canceled Lucky 7 and the certain to be canceled Betrayal.

    Premiere Week Live+SD

    Agents of SHIELD – 4.7
    Grey’s Anatomy – 3.4
    Once Upon a Time – 2.6
    Revenge – 2.3
    Castle – 2.2
    Nashville 2.0

    Premiere Week Live+7

    Agents of SHIELD – 7.0
    Grey’s Anatomy – 5.1
    Once Upon a Time – 3.8
    Revenge – 3.5
    Castle – 3.4
    Nashville – 3.2

    There’s no change in the rankings. In fact, Once, Revenge, Castle and Nashville all increased by the same 1.2 ratings points.

    The Good Wife can’t catch a break. I’m fully prepared to see it end this season (just like Alias, Ghost Whisperer and Brothers & Sisters, all among my all-time favorites and all canceled after their 5th season). The only thing I fear now is : will CBS maintain a full season order ?

    I LOVED alias it was IMO a very underrated show.. I though it was cancelled cause Jen Garner was pregnant starting a new family with Ben affleck and she wanted to focus on movies more.. She can’t do both with wanting to spend time with her daughter.

  • diana

    @al@Alvar sure people have lost interest in revenge but I’m pretty sure the walking dead had a lot to do with the ratings don’t forget that last year the walking dead premiere premiered a 5.8 with 11 million viewers now this year it premiered a 8.2 with 16 million viewers and plus football got a 8.4 so together both make 16 rating points which is a lot. I’m pretty sure revenge will go up 2 tenths next week @ Joe I think that revenge will be stable and plus it won’t be on in February after December their taking a.long 3 months break with scandal revenge and once upon a time. So I’m pretty sure revenge won’t fall that low it already has a core audience no way it will fall that low the lowest it will be is like a 1.4

    Paris,
    REVENGE COMING CLOSE TO A NEW SERIES LOW.
