@Zayne – “Also, I think a lot of people, myself included, were not going to watch The Originals but were pleasantly surprised at how good it was and have spread the word that it’s worth watching.”

I don’t know how much that would account for a ratings increase, but I agree. I stopped watching The Vampire Diaries over a year ago but have been enjoying The Originals so far.

Hope this run crosses over to ARROW.

Keep dreaming that ain’t happening. The Simpsons is on its 25th season and that is if we talk about scripted shows only.

    Don’t worry I will :)

Supernatural looks pretty darn good this year. I for one cannot get enough of this series. Very happy the ratings are improving…..they deserve it!

Haven’t given the originals much of a look yet…I will though.

YAY for my fave show, SPN. This season is so good. I’ve never been a big fan of TVD, but I wanted to give The Originals a try since its set in my home state and is SPN’s lead-in. I’m LOVING it so far, though they need to get Elijah out of that freaking coffin. =)

@Kate: I don’t think any knowledge of TVD is necessary really- the Mikaelson siblings are the Originals, the first created vamps. They lived in NOLA & helped build it, then fled, now they’ve come back to rebuild their family, reclaim their city, and protect some unexpected offspring.

What’s the hold up on the full season order CW?! Last season, they ordered a full season of Arrow after the second airing!!

  • Timmy G

@Dave, I was thinking the same thing. The only thing I can figure is they want to wait to see how TTP and Reign do this week so they can just make one formal announcement. There’s no way it’s not getting a full season at this point.

  • david

I agree they are waiting to see how The Tmomorrow People does in week 2 and Reign in week one. But i am sure the Originals will get a full season.

@Kate I don’t think TVD is essential viewing to fully enjoy The Originals. The writers have already inserted lots of backstory into the show to attract new viewers. Sometimes it even feels like overkill because I know all that already. I don’t mind though. It’s still an awesome show & I don’t blame the writers for wanting to get new viewers.

That said, watch TVD if you have extra time. The Originals had a fun storyline in season 2 I think? Check IMDB. The actors playing The Original family are all wonderful. So their episodes are some of the best TVD episodes. IMO of course. I know some TVD fans disagree ;)

That’s right CW, you have not had higher ratings than you had with Melrose Place 2.0 at 9 PM on Tuesdays since your cancelled it! And ABC is suffering at 10 PM without Body of Proof, a consistent 9 million viewership week after week. DUMB NETWORK EXECS!

The CW should also mention in its Press Release that a special repeat of Episode two on Thursday October 10 after the Vampire Diaries added 0.5 to its A18-49 viewers and over 1.2 Million viewers as well.

I am happy the ratings are up for Supernatural. I watched the entire series on Netflix this summer and looked forward to seeing the new season. I really think that Supernatural has Netflix to thank for their uptick in viewers and ratings. Most shows don’t fully appreciate the potential in Netflix to draw in more viewers, glad that Supernatural did not view it that way.

I know I will be watching, hopefully for many more seasons to come!

  • LeAnn

The episodes for The Originals just get better and better. Just like in Vampire Diaries fashion, they keep you coming back every week by some delicious cliff hangers.

Im happy for the cw but its like they have know regular teen dramas. I wish 90210 wouldve came back for another season and I wish Ringer and Hellcats never git cancelled. Even though 90210 ratings dropped I feel they couldve easily been up in tge right timeslot tbh
