In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

  • In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.7/7 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.7/7; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5.
  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/5 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.
  • From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
  • From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households with an encore) tied CBS's original "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/5).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for  live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Happy, happy for TO and most especially, Supernatural! Good night for the CW. –
Chicago Fire is a decent show. It gives you maybe 30 mins of fluff and 10 mins of good drama. Enough to keep it on my DVR but not to have to watch live. If they cut at least 4 very boring background characters, it would step up.

  • Samunto

Plain and simple: Shield is a bit of a disappointment and should have been doing a 3+. And no significant uplift even though The Voice is out of the playing field. Still very respectable numbers for ABC though.

Somehow The Voice isn’t pushing viewers to CF as hoped….

  • POI15FAN

Person of Interest is actually doing well for a Tuesday 10PM show. At 10:30, it matched Chicago Fire’s ratings

  • Scandalicious

So it looks like SHIELD has stabilized a little bit. The Originals is getting dangerously close to Dads which makes me very happy. I am sad that Brooklyn Nine-Nine didn’t do better but it really is kind of stranded at 8:30. New Girl is still below a 2 but I am confident it can rebound at some point. Both The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife getting such low ratings is disappointing. I really like both shows. I just don’t think they belong after SHIELD. They are both Wednesday night shows. It is an especially bad sign that Mindy is above Trophy Wife…. Come on ABC! Give these shows a better chance! They are so much better than Back in the Game and Super Fun Night!

  • steven

Shield will soon be at No Ordinary Family levels.

  • Mel

LMAO at Fox ratings, they so deserve it. Their big “hit” dropped .8 in demo, 3M in viewers in 5 weeks. ya, ya I know about the dvr ratings, still all hype per several ratings sites. #sorrynotsorry

  • anna g

CBS can be happy – Tuesdays are atrong for them with very decent ratings for Peron of interest at 10 pm. It seems to have stabilized aroung 2.1
Agents of Shield is still dropping – no wonder the writing is for 12 year old.I really wanted to like thie show and the pilot was very good but the next episodes were just meh..
Supernatural is doing great for its 9th season.

Name one time ANY network has put out a press release when their shows adjust down in the finals.

  • WoWza

Also, New Girl is fine for renewal at 1.8. That is awfully low though. Relatively, it is fine though! Also, Brooklyn Nine Nine is doing so good in comparison to everything else, actually. At this rate, it will be renewed – its doing as well as Parks – oh wait no much better ! Us and Them needs to be a hit for FOX (and should be if promoted super well). ALso, Raising Hope needs to be on Tuesdays. End of story.

    Should be

    Us and Them
    Raising Hope
    New Girl
    Brooklyn Nine Nine

My apologies to Mindy. Its really cute, but no.

When the fall schedules were announced, I read post after post about how POI was going to trash CF. it was going to be no contest at all. From the looks of things, those posters were wrong. They overestimated the power of POI and underestimated the value of The Voice lead in. Obviously, CF is drafting off of the lead in but let’s not pretend that many of you believed that would make the difference. NBC is doing what they should be doing. They are trying to build a bigger asset over the season. Smart scheduling.

Given CF was up week to week and is close to both AOS and NCIS:LA in the demo, what’s there to excuse?

  • Jay

Great episode of CF last night. Great acting, great writing. Season 3 a certainty. Also can’t wait for Chicago PD.

  • RyanCanada

im so happy with the Originals numbers!, supernatural is going to get a season 10

  • aos

Every week AOS falls more and more. Premiered to what 4.6 and now it’s at 2.7. That’s a big drop. Cause it’s so boring! I loved all the movies but this show is just not on par with them in the slightest. I wonder how much further it will go before it stabilizes. And ABC has 18 more episodes now… Like, I’ll keep watching but I just wanna see if they’re ever gonna improve it and find a better balance of what it needs to be and the characters feel like people not cardboard cutouts.

  • Volta

Wow at SPN for holding so strong from the premiere. Fantastic! Hope the rating holds. The Originals did great as well… CW must be very happy w/ their Tuesdays so far.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

Go NCIS! (& LA) Go POI!

Agents of SHIELD down to Sleep Hollow’s level one week sooner.

CF certainly isn’t doing poorly. Unless maybe you’re a schizo.

FOX needs to swap B99 and TMP slots….

  • David James

Brilliant ratings for Supernatural and The Originals! Nice to see The CW doing well for a change.

Agents of SHIELD is stable and doing well, very nice for the show. The Goldbergs continues to drop and Trophy Wife stable.

NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and Person of Interest all doing well.

Biggest Loser, Voice and Chicago Fire continue to perform well for NBC, wonder what this means for Chicago PD at midseason.

And finally, Dads actually doing OK, Brooklyn Nine-Nine doing OK, New Girl’s had a big drop while Mindy’s stable.

  • DrainBamage

A 2.4 for NBC is decent and at 10pm even more so. Chicago Fire is doing fine so far.

  • Patrice

Person of Interest is getting better and better. My only wish is that it would be back on Thursday at regular time.

  • bjssp

    Well said.

If TBL holds up, it could be a good addition to either Wednesday or Friday night, if NBC revamps either of those nights.
