In last Tuesday's episode (10/15) of her new Bravo show, I Dream Of NeNe: The Wedding, NeNe Leakes waits for news last spring about  the fate of her previous show, The New Normal, while reading TV by the Numbers.

In the scene, she’s reading news on TV by the Numbers, her show (The New Normal) and Community are still "alive" but she’s reading a post (by our Amanda Kondolojy) about all the comedies that NBC had cancelled so far.

“That is shocking,” she exclaims after reading the headline that Go On has been cancelled after one season. Then she reads the very short post aloud: “Go On has been cancelled after one season, it joins Whitney, 1600 Penn, Guys With Kids and Up All Night. Now we’re just waiting on The New Normal and Community.”

“Oh.My.God. They have cancelled a lot of the shows that came in when we came in,” she tells her fiancé.

Then there's more talk about how it sucks to have to wait to find out if your shows are canceled, and she’s not sure who is more unpredictable her bridesmaids or NBC executives.

They shot video for the scene in  near real-time since the same post was pretty quickly updated to reflect The New Normal’s cancellation, but that update did not get any screen time.

Much later in the show, in the show’s final scene, she learns of the The New Normal’s cancellation via a phone call from her manager.

We're happy to have NeNe Leakes as a fan of the site!

Here are some more screen caps from the episode:

I love NeNe. Too bad I didn’t love her show.

  • Mike

Hopefully she will be taping when you report the news that Glee wont be coming back :0)

  • Bill

Maybe she reads this too lol. Nene why did you leave the apprentice? Lol

  • psychic

Maybe she’s reading this right now.
    Hello, in that case.

  • Paris

    That’s cool, congratulations guys.

  • One

Hope it leads to more views for the site.

  • AdamP

Wow, but if you read this NeNe, SUP!

  • Chris Parker

    that is awesome. lol

  • Dan

If she had been actually following the site, she wouldn’t have been so surprised at the cancellation. ;)

  • Carl

Will we have scenes where Nene and Kenya fight over whether Revenge or Scandal should be canceled?

  • Rob3008

@One I’m inclined to disagree. The level of trolls that have arrived here over the past 2 years or so has made the comments section almost unreadable. The quality of posters has drastically fallen, a real shame as it was once a place for intelligent and sensible debate. I guess that’s the cost of becoming more well known.

At least the articles are still well written.

  • PurpleDrazi

    Ha! Way to go TVBTN!!!

It’s nice to get some attention from a TV star who isn’t trashing you. :-)

  • Why Watch

Who’s NENE and why does she matter?

  • Dan

Her manager said normally a network would keep 3 returning comedies. Well “The New Normal” for NBC is that they kept two, veterans Parks & Rec and Community. ABC has only gone with 2 some years. In 2009 ABC kept Scrubs and Better Off Ted, in 2006 they kept According to Jim and George Lopez, 2007 According to Jim and Notes From the Underbelly.

He also said that a newtork couldn’t afford to launch all new shows, but that’s precisely what NBC did for Thursdays this season with the exception of Parks & Rec.

It would be cheaper for NBC to air new shows then keep low rated old ones.

I wonder why Go On was cancelled before The New Normal, I don’t see how TNN would have more o a shot at returning considering it was lower rated and owned by FOX.

Agreed. I stopped reading the comments section on the main ratings tread about a year ago. It sounds like a bunch of children talking, even though they have no idea what they’re talking about!

  • who’s da’ bomb?

    NeNe’s da’ bomb!

  • Melanie

Awesome! The site is famous now! And I started reading it when it was barely a blog comparing Reaper & Supernatural’s chances for renewal.

  • Shepherd

I’ve never heard of NeNe, but this is still good news.

  • One @ WhyWatch

She caught the fancy of Mr. Gorman for reasons that still mystify me. I think she was also a “Real Housewife” at some point…

  • Jay

On one level, I really hope all the actors and actresses in toss up shows reads this sites.

On another level, I hope they don’t because I’d hate them to see their show get eaten by the bear.
