Will the 'Reign' Premiere Rule in the Ratings?

Reign Pilot CW

Tonight, period drama Reign premieres on the CW.  The highly fictionalized take on Mary Queen of Scots is a departure from the CW's genre bread and butter. (I happen to think that complaining about the show's historical inaccuracy , as some critics have,is like complaining that Scandal is not a realistic depiction of the U.S. government, but YMMV.) Will Reign's light sprinkling of supernatural elements catapult it to relatively high ratings of CW's genre shows, or will be doomed to suffer the low numbers of the CW's other period ten drama, The Carrie Diaries? Make like the show's supporting character Nostradamus and predict the show's fate.

I honestly have no idea what rating this show will get.

It could either do well and get a 0.9/0.8, or completely bomb and get a 0.4/0.5.

I would guess a .8, VD has been slipping lately but should be good for a 1.0 or 1.1 lead in. Given the promotion it received I would think it will premiere somewhere around the same level as the other new fall shows (but maybe a little lower).

I actually think this will premiere big but drop over the weeks. It’s been getting a lot of buzz and promotion and it has the network support but even that’s not definite right?

I’m gonna take a guess and say anything between a 0.8-1.1 and about 1.9/2.4 mil

Good luck to it though, I for one am excited for it. Hope it doesn’t disappoint.

I really don’t see something like this being success on The CW. 0.8-0.7 for premiere and down from there.

The historical time may draw me in, but unless the acting is stellar enough to blind me to the inaccuracies, I won’t stay with it. Watching The Tudors was bad enough.

TVD 1.1 and Reign will take a 0.9 TVD helps a lot of the new shows the only thing is after the first episode those shows bump

The headline should read, “Will the Reign premiere REIGN in the ratings?”

I think it’ll open okay, but if it’s not good, it’ll slip fast and be cancelled

0.8 or 0.9 for the pilot though

    Forgot my prediction. .8-.9

It’s their best new show besides Star-Crossed so it is a > 1

I think it will be whatever VD gets

Reign will either be a HUGE hit for the CW, or it will fail miserably. No middle ground here.

I hope for 1.5 and up but my optimism for CW premiers have been beaten with a rock.

The CW has had pretty solid premieres from all of their new shows this season. I don’t know why this one wouldn’t fair much the same. I am thinking a 0.9 or a 0.8 is likely.

    CW – Vampire Diaries 1.1, Reign 0.9

CBS – The Big Bang Theory 5.0, The Millers 2.7, The Crazy Ones 2.5, Two and a Half Men 2.3, Elementary 1.8

NBC – Parks and Rec 1.2, Welcome to the Family 0.8, Sean Saves the World 1..0, Michael J. Fox Show 1.3,
    Parenthood 1.3

    ABC – Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 1.5, Grey’s Anatomy 3.1, Scandal 3.4

I think tonight’s episode of Scandal looks awesome. It has a really interesting plot line so I think it will rise tonight. I will be interested to see how much the Glee tribute episode impacted Grey’s and The Crazy Ones. I guess we will find out tonight!

I think 1.0, at least, for the premiere.
