Will the 'Reign' Premiere Rule in the Ratings?

Reign Pilot CW

Tonight, period drama Reign premieres on the CW.  The highly fictionalized take on Mary Queen of Scots is a departure from the CW's genre bread and butter. (I happen to think that complaining about the show's historical inaccuracy , as some critics have,is like complaining that Scandal is not a realistic depiction of the U.S. government, but YMMV.) Will Reign's light sprinkling of Supernatural elements catapult it to relatively high ratings of CW's genre shows, or will be doomed to suffer the low numbers of the CW's other period ten drama, The Carrie Diaries? Make like the show's supporting character Nostradamus and predict the show's fate.

The only reason I watched Reign this evening for the very talented and underrated Megan Follows and she didn’t disappoint. The show has promise, but I don’t know if it will appeal to everyone. I can’t predict what it will do in the future, but I would say the premiere will earn a .8/1.9 million. I hope it is higher, but we will see.

I give it to the CW this season for having the most solid freshman series this season out of all the networks, shockingly. The Originals has especially surprised me, considering I hated their characters on TVD. Now, I find that so far this season I enjoy TO much more than TVD.

    I say .09 to 1.0 :)

1.0, which will be a drop from Diaries 1.2. It depends on how much of that audience will hold up from there. I’m not sure how expensive this series will be, but I can’t see them giving a second season if the ratings drop below 0.6.

The CW will most likely premiere Star Crossed on Monday if they move B&TB to Fridays and The 100 will premiere mid-season in Reign’s slot after it’s been cancelled/ended it’s run.
