FOX has picked up nine additional episodes of the arresting new comedy BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, bringing the series to a 22-episode order, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE will join New Girl in a special one-hour comedy event, airing immediately following the Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

“It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love BROOKLYN NINE-NINE as much as we do,” said Reilly. “With Andy and Andre out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.”

With its same-day viewing, DVR and VOD playback, and its streaming on www.Fox.com and www.Hulu.com, the series premiere of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE has drawn a total audience of more than 14.6 million. Through five telecasts, the comedy is averaging a 2.1/6 among Adults 18-49 with 4.9 million total viewers, according to Nielsen's most current data. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE also has the third-highest concentration of upscale viewers ($100k+ HH) of any new series so far this season and has boosted the network's averages among key male demos by +38% to +45%.

In “Halloween,” next week’s all-new episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, airing Tuesday, Oct. 22 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, it’s Halloween night, a busy time of the year for any police precinct. Amy (Melissa Fumero) detests the holiday, and is not thrilled when she has to don a costume to go undercover on street patrol with Charles (Joe Lo Truglio). Back at the precinct, Jake (Andy Samberg) bets Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) that he can steal his Medal of Valor before midnight, which results in him bringing out some costumes of his own.

Created and written by Dan Goor (“Parks and Recreation”) and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”) BROOKLYN NINE-NINE stars Andy Samberg as a talented, but carefree, detective and Andre Braugher as the new precinct captain with a lot to prove.

The series is created and written by Dan Goor (“Parks and Recreation,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”). More shocking: It will air post-super bowl!

  • Jess

yayy so happy for B99! Hope they’ll renew too

  • Glue

Oh that’s surprising. But after the Dads pickup, I’m not all that surprised.

  • taylor

Yay,! Hopefully dads get pulled now

  • Thiago

    YES!!!

  • Scandalicious

So glad it got picked up for a full season and so glad it will be airing after the Superbowl! I think Fox understands what a great comedy it is. If they show it some love it will grow!

  • Glue

They really should put Mindy post Superbowl. It deserves a large audience.

  • HeadlessHorseman (formerly JacobYates)

Great news! Best new comedy of the fall!

  • starship

With this getting a full season I doubt Dads will go beyond 13-eps. They’ll probably have Surviving Jack replace it in February.

  • eelna

fox, nbc, cbs, abc picked up. CW now it’s you turn!!

    @Glue
Mindy airs post New Girl. If Mindy can’t garner a larger audience with its plush lead in, FOX would not put it post Super Bowl.

  • chloe

Hahaha Mindy project is so crap. Glad new girl and B99 airing after superbowl

  • Alex

Come on Fox, doesn’t it make sense to give American Idol the post superbowl spot. It helped the voice so much when in NBC had it. This is the only chance FOX could help idol.

    any one else agree?

  • Tukan

The BEST news!!!! So glad for this show.. I loved it from the first episode, it really reminds me of the office and Parks and Rec, it has a huge potential, I was surprised by the low ratings, but it will find some new fans after Superbowl! and I think it will be picked up for the next season!! Hopefully!! :) fingers crossed!!

  • joe

why this one the worst shows ever made

  • KC

I hate B99 and New Girl has gotten pretty bad too.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

I’ve watched bits and pieces of B99. It’s quite humorous. The captain from Last Resort plays a great straight man. In the old meaning of the expression.

  • Mel

so 1.5 is the new 3.0 at Fox…..um, ok.

  • Jim

I actually like everything about B99 except the lead, he’s silly and overbearing.

  • Doug

Holy smokes…BNN + New Girl will rate as one of the lowest post Super Bowl hours ever…
