BROOKLYN NINE-NINE” SCORES WHEN IT JOINS “New Girl

WITH ALL-NEW EPISODES FOLLOWING Super Bowl XLVIII

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2, ON FOX

Next All-New Episode Airs Tuesday, October 22, on FOX

FOX has picked up nine additional episodes of the arresting new comedy BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, bringing the series to a 22-episode order, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE will join New Girl in a special one-hour comedy event, airing immediately following the Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

“It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love BROOKLYN NINE-NINE as much as we do,” said Reilly. “With Andy and Andre out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.”

With its same-day viewing, DVR and VOD playback, and its streaming on www.Fox.com and www.Hulu.com, the series premiere of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE has drawn a total audience of more than 14.6 million. Through five telecasts, the comedy is averaging a 2.1/6 among Adults 18-49 with 4.9 million total viewers, according to Nielsen's most current data. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE also has the third-highest concentration of upscale viewers ($100k+ HH) of any new series so far this season and has boosted the network's averages among key male demos by +38% to +45%.

In “Halloween,” next week’s all-new episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, airing Tuesday, Oct. 22 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, it’s Halloween night, a busy time of the year for any police precinct. Amy (Melissa Fumero) detests the holiday, and is not thrilled when she has to don a costume to go undercover on street patrol with Charles (Joe Lo Truglio). Back at the precinct, Jake (Andy Samberg) bets Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) that he can steal his Medal of Valor before midnight, which results in him bringing out some costumes of his own.

Created and written by Dan Goor (“Parks and Recreation”) and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”) BROOKLYN NINE-NINE stars Andy Samberg as a talented, but carefree, detective and Andre Braugher as the new precinct captain with a lot to prove.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is produced by Universal Television, 3 Arts Entertainment and Fremulon. The series is created and written by Dan Goor (“Parks and Recreation,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”). The series is executive-produced by Goor, Schur and David Miner (“30 Rock”). The pilot was directed by the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”). “Like” BROOKLYN NINE-NINE on Facebook at Facebook.com/BrooklynNineNine. Whats everyones guess on the next pick ups?

There’s the vote of confidence in B99 I’ve been looking for. Getting the post SB slot is a welcome surprise & mark my words it’ll get a 2nd season.

  • j

Eh, Elementary and Glee were helped approximately 0% following the leadout ep. I expect something similar here.

  • omabin

    YESSSSS! Now I am happy!!!

It is painful to watch Samberg on a sitcom. Not sure the other actors are good enough to turn the show into an ensemble cast, which is their only chance. B99 certainly gets their shot.

I still enjoy New Girl, but I think they really messed up the chemistry of the show by caving to the Jessica-Nick relationship this early and leaving the other roommates to have secondary confusing story lines. I guess they figure that with syndication, the show is locked in for fourth season, so why not try to grow their audience.

The writing on Mindy is much better than any other comedy on Fox in an age where comedies are dying. They have some great actors on the show. Of their current shows, I agree with Glue that it should be put after the Superbowl.

FOX should really try to get Arrested Development back on their network for season 5, but run it in the non-conventional manner of FX, HBO, and Showtime shows to accommodate the cast’s schedule. With how crazy AD fans are and the post cancellation popularity, fans would dutifully tune in. Why should Netflix profit from a brand they originally built?

Great news about B99! Though it would be much better if it airs immediately after the Super Bowl. It might attract more male audience who’ve just watched SB than New Girl. New Girl skews too female like Glee (which didn’t benefit much after the SB).

    I’m glad, it’s a funny show.

Can u all imagine if Scandal could have gotten the post Super Bowl spot what the ratings would have been? It would have been huge.

He’s a lot less irritating than Mindy Kaling (at least to me).

  • THE OLD MAN

WELL I’M SMILING EAR TO EAR!!

Now we won’t have to face the wrath of One!

  • Kaylie

I really like this show. Glad that Fox is showing it some love.

  • Chucky

Awesome!! I was hoping they would pick it up and air a episode after the Superbowl. It’s a good show!

I don’t know why you find her irritating, I personally find her hilarious and really entertaining.

Poor Cancellation bear will now go hungry!

  • haloey

they better have something good planned for mindy to make up for this though

  • Igwell

With this getting a full season I doubt Dads will go beyond 13-eps. They’ll probably have Surviving Jack replace it in February.

There’s an empty space left by Murder Police. And FOX wants a multi-cam.

  • sofaspud

Wow, I could sorta understand the DADS call given McFarlane — but this? Well, post-Super Bowl should be it’s main audience so maybe that’ll help it. Tried the show, and it wasn’t for me.

“they better have something good planned for mindy to make up for this though”

I know. I really want it to succeed. It’s my favorite comedy. I still don’t understand why they’re giving it to NG. It already had a strong pilot sampling (10Mill?) and it dropped, just like the quality (the quality has really dropped since season one.) I know people are put off by Mindy (God knows why) but it’s funnier.

  • TVMAN

They should have B99 right after SuperBowl, not NG. It appeals to more males and would get a larger sampling. Plus they need another comedy to help FOX Tuesdays, because New Girl isn’t that strong anymore.

It’s a pretty common feeling among people. I won’t even bother watching that show because I can’t stand her. I don’t care how funny you think it is. She was hands down the worst person on The Office. I just want to mute the tv while she talks. Samberg definitely has a humor only certain people like but I love him. I hope his show makes it.
