CBS GIVES FULL SEASON ORDERS TO TELEVISION'S TOP THREE NEW COMEDIES — "THE CRAZY ONES," "THE MILLERS" AND "MOM"

CBS has given full season "back nine" orders to television's top three freshman comedies — THE CRAZY ONES, THE MILLERS and MOM.

"We’re proud of CBS’s leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. "These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts."

THE CRAZY ONES is the season's #1 new comedy in viewers (13.71m), adults 18-49 (3.6/10) and adults 25-54 (4.8/12).  THE CRAZY ONES wins its Thursday (9:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) time period in viewers.

THE MILLERS sweeps its Thursday (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) time period in viewers and key demographics and ranks as the #2 comedy in viewers (12.41m), adults 18-49 (3.2/09) and adults 25-54 (4.3/11).  Last night, THE MILLERS retained 97% of its premiere rating in adults 18-49, 98% in adults 25-54 and 93% of its premiere audience, the best of any new series in these measures.

MOM is the third-most-watched new comedy, averaging 7.98 million viewers, delivering a 2.6/06 in adults 18-49 and 3.2/07 in adults 25-54 airing in the highly competitive Monday (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) time period.

THE CRAZY ONES stars Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Wolk, Hamish Linklater and Amanda Setton.  David E. Kelley, Bill D'Elia, Jason Winer, Tracy Poust, John Kinnally, Dean Lorey, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.  THE CRAZY ONES was created by David E. Kelley.

THE MILLERS stars Will Arnett, Beau Bridges, Margo Martindale, Jayma Mays, J.B. Smoove, Nelson Franklin and Eve Moon.  Greg Garcia is executive producer/creator for CBS Television Studios.

MOM stars Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Nate Corddry, Matt Jones, Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels and French Stewart.  Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Nick Bakay are executive producers for Chuck Lorre Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. MOM was created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker.

    Surprised by Mom.

The other two not so much, would be interesting to see how they’d do without a huge Big Bang lead in though.

  • American187

    Wow no surprises here!

  • Seth

Well deserved for all, especially Mom which is holding it’s own in an extremely tough time slot.

  • Doug

Remember though, S— My Dad Says was given a full season. Out of these three, I can see The Crazy Ones having the same fate.

  • Cyrax86

    Great news!

  • Jon

Not surprised by Millers or The Crazy Ones but Mom getting a full season is surprising, would have thought extra episodes at best. Makes me wonder where the midseason comedies will go.

  • mike93

the crazy ones is the only good new sitcom cbs has…. mom will be cancelled after season ends. the millers will be rennewed. and the crazy ones is likely to be renewed but it is dropping. if it doesnt go below 2.2 it should be renewed also.

  • Refrain

Mom will only of got a full season order for scheduling purposes. Probably has nothing else to put there ;)

  • Markitos

Great! I like Mom and The Crazy Ones :)

  • Dan

Not surprised by any of these getting full seasons. My only question is that I wonder if any one of these series will get a shorter order like 18 like how when CBS renewed all 5 new shows in 2010, Mike & Molly H50 and Blue Bloods got 22 episodes but Defenders and Bleep My Dad Says got 18.

Also CBS has Bad Teacher and Friends With Better Lives on the bench so it wi be interesting to see how the will find room for all these shows.

  • ph

I like The Crazy Ones more and more each week. I hate The Millers and am disappointed in Mom.

  • Oliver

I wonder what this means for Friends with Better Lives and Bad Teacher.

  • Tony

CBS has to move 2 and a half men to Thursdays 8:30 PM

  • Dan

@Refrain – CBS has both Bad Teacher and Friends W Better Luves on the bench. My guess is that Mom got a full season because CBS likes it and wants/thinks it will improve

  • J.G.

This has to mean a timeslot move for Mom.

  • AdamP

Oh thank God, Mom got picked up. I was worried, and it is one of (actually the only) good Chuck Lorre comedy on CBS.

  • gerry

chuck lorre isn’t letting mom leave that network without a fight, that is guaranteed. happy about this news, though again i say that the millers should praise the scheduling gods for their spot. it wouldn’t be doing nearly as well in the mom slot if it were there.

  • Charmed

    YESSSS THE CRAZY ONES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis

Yes!!! Hope The Millers & The Crazy Ones can continue for a long time!

  • Stephen

Guess Mom snuck in there since it’s Chuck Lorre otherwise I don’t think it would have gotten a back 9 or at least not yet. The other two make sense though.

I’m thinking if CBS has 2 midseason comedies as I’ve read in other comments I could see one of them going at 830 or 930 on Monday in January with Mom returning in March after Olympics. The other could premiere after TBBT in Mar/Apr with Millers or 2.5 Men wrapping up early with fewer repeats. If CBS is having second thoughts about one of these though then could see one being held until summer.
