The Vampire Diaries Episode 503

via press note:

Last night, THE Vampire Diaries beat both ABC and NBC in the hour in A18-34, W18-34, and A18-49.

It was TVD's most watched episode (2.84M) since February (2/21/13), and its best A18-49 rating since March (3/21).

Week to week, TVD was up 33% in total viewers, 18% in A18-34 (1.3/5), 30% in A18-49 and 6% in W18-34 (1.8/6).

The series premiere of REIGN gave The CW its second best performance in the Thursday 9-10pm time period in a year in total viewers (2M), W18-34 (1.0/3) and A18-49 (0.8/2) (10/11/12, the series premiere of Beauty And The Beast, which aired opposite the Vice Presidential Debate on the other broadcast networks), and since Nov. 2012 in A18-34 (0.7/2), behind only the special airing of THE ORIGINALS in the time period.

In DVR viewing last week, THE Vampire Diaries grew 46% in total viewers in L+3 vs. L+SD ratings, 49% in A18-34, 56% in A18-49, and 53% in W18-34.

Amazing for TVD… Last nights episode is in my top 5

Nina Dobrev’s face pretty much sums up my reaction… Happy day at the CW!

  • Jared

  • Sia

Didn’t like last season and am trying again and I actually like this season good for them !

Uhm, Vampire Diaries didn’t beat NBC, it matched it. Unless they have early access to final ratings, I’m not sure where they are getting these numbers. Still, very impressive ratings for TVD

They probably have access to the 18-49 (& 34) numbers in greater precision than the ones we see.

Great for TVD and ok start for Reign. So, good night overall for the CW.

  • Joseph

Remember that The CW’s target audience, for the most part, is “younger” women.

  • Adir

Hope Star-Crossed replace reign soon as possibole!

The timing of the announcement of Nina’s break-up from Derek was perfect – the ratings surged by 30% week on week for TVD which shows the fan’s support for Nina and Ian. The writing was interesting. Damon on the floor broke my heart and the ending was such a cliff hanger.

    @0mega
    TVD did 1.3 from 8-9pm.
On NBS P&R did 1.3, but WTTF did 0.9, and that is 1.1 from 8-9pm.
So TVD did beat NBC :)

Reign was a good pilot. It can improve, if they build the show on the political and horror element, which I liked most.

But obviously, CW can be proud of Reign. Honestly, how will promotion work, if everyone was sceptical?

TO had 2.2 Million Viewers and 1.0 Rating out of TVD Lead-In.
TTP had 2.3 Million Viewers and 0.9 Rating out of Arrow Lead-In.
Reign had 2 Million Viewers and 0.8 Rating out of TVD. It’s not quite bad. Did better than Cult, Hart of Dixie, Emily Owens, and Carrie Diaries: There’s much of renewal chance, if the season can end at least with a 1.5 Million Viewers and 0.5 Rating.

No as vova said, P&R tied TVD but Welcome to the Family scored a 0.9, making the hour average a 1.1 which is two tenths lower than the TVD hour average (1.3)

Never really been a big fan of CW shows (only one I watch is Arrow) but out of curiosity I checked out Reign and loved it. Hopefully it continues to do well.

  • Jared

So far The CWs 3 for 3 with there new dramas all premiering pretty well. Where does that leave the networks mid season series The 100 & Star Crossed? Possibly Summer??

  • Taylor

I’m several seasons behind on watching The Vampire Diaries, but I love the show and I’m thrilled that it’s still doing well for the CW in its fifth season. I also love that for once The CW wasn’t dead last in the ratings last night and managed to match Parks and Recreation in the demo rating and beat both Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Welcome to the Family.

I didn’t like the first episode of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland at all, and I’m not planning to watch it again. I never watched Welcome to the Family, so I don’t have an opinion regarding that show. I do love Parks and Recreation though, and I especially enjoyed last night’s episode. That being said, I’m glad that for once The CW got to have a little victory over ABC and NBC. Finally, I love the picture that the person chose to post with this press release. The look on Nina Dobrev’s face in that picture pretty much sums up my reaction to seeing the ratings for last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries. LOL! :)
