Which New Fall Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Fifth? (Poll)

RIP, Welcome to the Family and Ironside. The bear had a double NBC cancellation meal on Friday, October 18.  The drama-comedy combination plate was delicious,, but the cancellation bear always has room for more.

Which new broadcast primetime show will be the next caught by the cancellation bear and canceled fifth? With several more shows getting full season orders, it should be easier to predict now. Right?

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later.

What's your guess for this season's third to go?

While I've included all new shows in the poll (in randomized order) expected to premiere before Christmas that are not already renewed, full season ordered or canceled, the ones premiering late are obviously very highly unlikely to be canceled first, but the adventuresome are more than welcome to take a shot.

Like they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

It’s tough. ABC probably is mulling killing Betrayal. But I’m sticking with my guns on Hostages. I see CBS moving that show to Saturdays and replacing it with reruns of one of their crime shows.

After that, probably Betrayal. It is getting Red Widow type numbers right now.

    If not that, then OUATIW.

I like how the blacklist isn’t even on the list

I voted for Betrayal since that’s now ABC’s lowest rated new show. As for The Goldbergs getting canned guess again. I guarantee it’ll get a back 9 like Fox just gave to the low rated Brooklyn 9-9. It has great critical appeal & I think ABC is going to be patient with it like they were when Modern Family & The Middle had when they started.

I see Wonderland lasting for at least it’s initial order, and I’m sure the showrunners will make sure the show finishes its story within the final approved batch of episodes. They already said they planned to tell a complete story within this Season, and I feel it’ll at least get that.

I thought about doubling down on SSTW, but it looks like NBC is going to protect SSTW and MJF until January at least.

Betrayal and Wonderland seem like sucker bets imo. ABC has enough to worry about right now, and I think these will also be safe until the new year. Wonderland will get cut down to 13 episodes, and ABC will try and pretend like they only ordered 13 to begin with. Betrayal will probably air all 13 episodes even if they pull it for sweeps.

I guess my money is on Hostages. CBS has a new problem with Ele, but they have plenty of shows that repeat well.

If it’s not Betrayal, I don’t think we’ll be hearing about any cancellations any time soon.

You may be right about not hearing about any more cancellations any time soon. These may all be sucker bets! A lot of these shows wont get a back order, but I can see a number of them finishing up their initial orders.

Mjf had s full seaon order previoudly

    Isn’t The Blacklist pummeling Hostages?

    i need BitG cancelled NOW!
a lawson-less Psych will just be sad.

  • HV

I think that it will most likely be one of The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, or Betrayal, although I won’t be shocked if it is Hostages.

You need to fix the text in the 4th paragraph. It’s “fifth” now, not “third.”

Hostages will be canceled next, followed closely by Betrayal.

  • Michael

Wonderland is next. If it’s not that…Then it’s Betrayl. Either way, ABC has to make a move for it’s Winter Schedule so both shows are doomed soon.

Make way for more “Wipeout!!” ;)

Betrayal seems like the best bet. I’m still not sure why MasterChef Junior is in these polls, and even less sure why people keep voting for it. I suppose it’s not unprecedented for a competition reality show to get cancelled midway through, but I can’t imagine that would happen here.

“I like how the blacklist isn’t even on the list”

It would be crazy if it was on the list with the full season pick-up :-)

    Second post was an error.

Betrayal needs cancelled. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland needs moved ASAP. I understand it is only to air 13 episodes anyway but the network can not be pleased with it coming in behind the CW’s Vampire Diaries.

Would guess if this is based on know orders and ratings ,

Betrayal is probably next , but would not be surprised if WONDERLAND was the next to get the hook

Blacklist is a break out hit , and in my opinion one of the best new Broadcast dramas of the season ,, that said not sure how its going to fair beyond one season
