Which New Fall Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Fifth? (Poll)

RIP, Welcome to the Family and Ironside. The bear had a double NBC cancellation meal on Friday, October 18.  The drama-comedy combination plate was delicious,, but the cancellation bear always has room for more.

Which new broadcast primetime show will be the next caught by the cancellation bear and canceled fifth? With several more shows getting full season orders, it should be easier to predict now. Right?

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later.

What's your guess for this season's third to go?

While I've included all new shows in the poll (in randomized order) expected to premiere before Christmas that are not already renewed, full season ordered or canceled, the ones premiering late are obviously very highly unlikely to be canceled first, but the adventuresome are more than welcome to take a shot.

Like they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

I agree there might be no more pulling from schedule, no more time to launch a new show in 2013. But I don’t think they would shut down the production of the 3 limited series, they will all end in January.

SSTW will have its 13 episodes filmed, Dads will have 16-18. Trophy Wife and Back in the Game are the only ones I can see not having all the 13 episodes produced…

Hostages and/or Betrayal seem to be the most likely next course for the Cancellation Bear’s 2013 feast. But yeah, it’s going to depend on whether there’s anything left in the tank to replace them, which there might not be. (Wonderland’s obviously not going to get picked up for more episodes, but I think they’ll keep it on the air until it’s done.)

Dads really should get the axe, but at this point I think there’s something else going on at Fox that’s keeping it around. They want to keep a good relationship with McFarlane, maybe, or they just don’t want to admit that the critics are right about how incredibly terrible the show is and therefore are keeping it around out of pure spite. It could very possibly air every single god-awful episode this season, although I hope they’re not crazy enough to renew it.

My guess is for Betrayal, but I’ve seen NOT one promo, advertisement, mention of Dracula in any way shape or form, so who knows what’s going to happen with that.

  • Nikki

I dont think they will cancel Hostages.. maybe move it to a different night. Because its getting viewers through DVR and the critics seem to like it. My moneys on Reign.. give it another week and its canceled. After that first episode did so poor i cant imagine if it does poor this week they will let it air another week. Its pathetic.

As much as I love Michael J. Fox and hoped his show would be good, it is time to cancel it! Same goes for Sean Saves the World! Not sure why Super Fun Night isn’t getting more votes it may be the worst thing on the list!

Sean Saves the World or OUATIW

ABC, NBC, and CBS have already done a round of cancellations this season. The shows on the CW are too highly rated, and FOX has ordered full seasons of its 2 strongest candidates.

I suspect they’ll try to move Wonderland to Sundays before giving it the boot and even then I can’t imagine ABC not airing all the episodes as it would make OUAT look bad.

I’m guessing Betrayal might be pulled today if it goes below the 1.0 mark.

  • Alex J

I remember the first 6 episodes of OUAT being awesome, it was after that when it started going down hill. And I really don’t want to put any effort into watching a new show which it’s mother show has a history of severely disappointing me. I think there are people with my sentiment concerning Wonderland.

Wonderland should be moved to the OUAT time slot over the Christmas holiday until OUAT comes back.
That was the original plan for the show. Sounded like the best plan.

I think there might be 5 Sundays in between the fall & spring seasons. And roughly 8 Thursdays until OUAT goes off the air in december. That equals 13 episodes and the amount of rumored episodes that was ordered.

  • Seth

Betrayal is already living on borrowed time.

You know, I’m going to go with Dracula. I think there’s a good chance that the remaining shows are in the ‘nothing better to replace them with’ zone for a good while, and the Bear will go hungry until the mid-season shows have a chance to flop horribly (and that Drac will do far worse than Almost Human)

  • Hooky

I really hope Dracula is great as the actor portraying him was amazing in the Tudors.

I voted for The Michael J. Fox Show.

It is so odd that whatever show that premieres after Modern Family eventually gets canceled. It is one of the most cursed time slots on tv right now.

Why is “The Michael J. Fox Show” the only show with a full season order to be on the list? Is it because it received the order prior to the first episode, or is there another reason?

  • Michael1

CBS gives their shows 3+ full seasons to gain viewers in the lead-in-dependent time slot. This formula has produced such hits as “CSI”, “The Big Bang Theory”, and “Mike and Molly”. Were ABC to have followed suit, “Cougar Town” might still be on TV today. Oh well, live and learn. Or not.

  • Data

I hope they’ll keep The Goldbergs. Love that show and have no idea what it’s doing on Tuesday’s while it clearly should be moved to Wendesday’s after The Middle oder Modern Family. I’m usually not rooting for show’s I don’t watch to get cancelled but seeing how Super Fun Night is occupying the post Modern Family Slot and literally doing nothing with it (plus the fact that it’s just downright awful to watch) I think they should cancel that one next and put The Goldbergs there somewhere.

  • gerry

i voted betrayal but i don’t know when it will be announced. dads had more eps ordered, so even though they may not air them its likely they will. and hostages will, if anything, only get a ‘soft’ cancellation and be moved to another night and not renewed, since it was set up to be one season anyhow.

i think we may be nearing the end of the immediate cancellations for the season.

Betrayal and OUATW’s fates have already been decided. They will be cancelled, it’s just a matter of time. No doubt ABC will just let them run out their episode orders while they sort the rest of their problems out.

I have a feeling ABC will try and pull a marketing stunt and grant a bunch of early renewals to the obvious shows in Jan or Feb just for some positive press– as their network continues to crumble around them.
