Almost Human

via press release:

ALMOST HUMAN Premieres Monday, November 4, on FOX

Step into the fun and futuristic world of ALMOST HUMAN with an extended first look at the upcoming series during the all-new “The Woman in White” episode of BONES airing tonight (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The exclusive first look will air at approximately 8:25 PM ET/PT. The adrenaline-fueled ride of ALMOST HUMAN begins when the thrilling drama premieres Monday, Nov. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

This extended first look at ALMOST HUMAN also will run simultaneously across all of FOX’s digital and social media platforms, including Hulu, the FOX Now App,, the official ALMOST HUMAN Facebook page (, Twitter (@AlmostHumanFOX) and FOX affiliate websites.

In the highly anticipated BONES episode, Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) finally tie the knot, as the Jeffersonian team investigates a murder which threatens to distract the couple from their big day.

Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman (“Fringe”) and starring Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”), Lili Taylor (“The Conjuring”), Minka Kelly (“Friday Night Lights”), Mackenzie Crook (“Pirates of the Caribbean” franchises) and Michael Irby (“Law Abiding Citizen”), ALMOST HUMAN takes place in the year 2048 – when being a cop has only become a more dangerous job than it is today. Following an unprecedented increase in the crime rate, every police officer must partner with an android. This series follows the week-to-week missions of JOHN KENNEX (Urban), a detective and sole survivor of a devastating police ambush, and his robot partner, DORIAN (Ealy), as this buddy-cop duo solves cases and fights to keep the lid on dangerously evolved criminals in this futuristic landscape.

ALMOST HUMAN is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc., in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series was created by J.H. Wyman, who wrote the pilot. The series is executive-produced by J.J. Abrams, Wyman and Bryan Burk. Kathy Lingg (“Person of Interest,” “Revolution,” “Fringe”) and Reid Shane (“Fringe”) are co-executive producers. Brad Anderson (“Fringe,” “The Killing”) directed and served as co-executive producer on the pilot.

I’m no programming expert but would it not make more sense to save the Wedding episode of Bones for its Friday premiere in a few weeks?

  • 1mars

Great I know exactly what time to take my bathroom break

  • John A

I was a big fringe fan but Almost Human sounds so stupid.

  • Ali

As if Bones fans aren’t annoyed enough at Fox moving Bones to Friday, now they’re cutting into the pivotal most anticipated bones Ep probably in the series for an extended preview of the show that’s replacing it, ugh. way to go Fox, where’s my remote control?

  • Missy

    FOX is delusional.
They didn’t know anything with the Finder?

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

So they are replacing the TV show Bones, with the guy who plays Bones on Star Trek?

  • Donna

“As if Bones fans aren’t annoyed enough at Fox moving Bones to Friday”

Cry me a river. If your show and fandom are really that great, Bones will do fine. Fringe had a smaller audience than Bones and you didn’t see Fringe fans whimpering and whining about the move to Friday. They dug in and supported and promoted the move. All you Bones fans do is whine and complain.

Fox will support your show on Fridays if you do.

  • psychic

I think Fox is trying to kill Bones off. It’s more than time.

I agree that Almost Human looks stupid, but I’ll try it anyway.

  • CrimTV

Bones should be able to hold on it’s own. Fringe was moved to Fridays mid-way through season 3 while the show was still declining. Bones is in it’s 9th season and is relatively stable.

  • Dan S

I wonder why Fox is repeating the SH pilot tonight. It would’ve made better sense to preview AH during a new SH than Bones.

  • Jazz

Saw Almost Human at Comic Con. Very good production values. In many ways it’s a buddy cop movie. It wasn’t for me but I think people will like it. It all depends on where they take it after the pilot. Love Michael Ealy which is why I wanted to watch this. I think it is intended for a male audience as they don’t hold back in the scenes. I think that will appeal to many. There is also a dynamic between one of the cops and his boss that I really, really like. Don’t see that much. I hope it is a success for them like Sleepy Hollow because I want Ealy to shine.

You can never tell from previews. I thought I would love Almost Human but I wasn’t sure about Sleepy Hollow. SH is like my favorite show now. I look forward to it every week. Oh, what will I do for the next few weeks.

During the many promos during the baseball playoffs a big HUH? came from my vocal chords.

    Again, I say HUH?

    @ Alvar

    @ Missy

    Agree–“The Finder?”

  • Donna

The idea that Fox is trying to kill Bones is silly. Why would Fox want to kill a show that returns a smallish but steady audience for them? I personally don’t care for the show, but just because it’s not a breakout hit doesn’t mean a network wants a show to die.

Fox is putting it on Fridays because they think it will survive there. Consider it a compliment. CBS would have cancelled it.

  • Christian

@Alvar I was thinking the exact same thing; it definitely would’ve made more sense to have this episode be its Friday premiere. Plus, why the hell did they premiere SH a week early just to show a rerun after what is presumably going to be Bones’ highest rated episode of the season? And people say ABC’s schedulers are monkeys…

@Jazz I want to watch Almost Human for Michael Ealy as well but the trailer didn’t grab me and your review did even more to discourage me. It looks like too much action, not enough story. But hey, it is smart to court the male audience against The Voice and Dancing with the Stars. So we’ll see if it works out for FOX.

  • Sarah

I hope it backfires on them (i.e. The Finder). I know that’s mean, but Fox has almost always treated Bones like the redheaded stepchild and it doesn’t deserve to move to Fridays, IMO. Plus, it’s not like they haven’t been promoting AH. So, I’ll switch to DWTS just until the preview is over.

And come November I’m watching DWTS live.

  • Jim

Haa, fans with short memories, Fringe fans whined and cried and complained until the last ep, Fox has always treated Bones and their fans poorly, use and abuse, they don’t deserve the loyal 7M fans after 8 years on the air. Besides their big “hit” of the fall, what other scripted Fox show is getting those viewers, and yeah, I know viewers mean nothing. blah, blah

  • Joe Smith

i could care less what night they put the show. i don’t watch it live and it’s only got so many seasons left regardless of the night it airs.

  • Jazz

Sorry…I was gonna hold back until others saw it. It is very well done so it is certainly worth giving a chance. Ealy plays against type. But, yes more action than story but there is certainly story there, which I suspect will be explored over future episodes. Definitely for males. Ealy makes for a very likable robot. I like futuristic shows.

  • Wright

Being a huge Fringe fan I am really looking forward to this show.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

    I’m in.

Why is Sleepy Hollow a repeat of the pilot tonight?
