    Congrats to Y&R lol!

GH has been great. The villians r making this soap good again dr orbeacht, jerry, faison, heather(her scenes with franco r great) and the jeromes. And im glad connie is gone because sonny is back to being ruthless, smart and fun again. The love story sonny had with connie was boring and ruined his character for awhile.

    good for gh

Way to go GH. Keep going! And, hopefully, people will start to tune in on Fridays, and we can see the ratings go up even further. So weird. I would guess many people just get busy on Friday, and watch it over the weekend. I watched Thursday and Fridays episodes on Sunday this past weekend.

Good news for Days also, as it has moved up to number 3 in the 18-49 rating. I don’t know why the powers in charge at NBC never had the idea of getting Jennifer Aniston to guess star on Days for a few episodes during ratings sweep. Her father John Aniston plays Victor on the show, and having Jennifer guest star may attract new viewers. I know that money might be an issue, but she could do it to support her father. November sweeps is around the corner and I hope that Days continues to be as dramatic as it has been the last couple of months. With fan favourites returning like Steve and Shane, there should be steady numbers for the soap.

As long as the soaps can keep attracting new viewers while keeping us loyal ones entertained I’m happy. Congrats GH. I watched Y&R back when David Kimble was on. You had to watch everyday because Y&R never recapped by people thinking back etc..The writing was methodical and if you missed it it was too bad. They wrote their bad guys very well so good that you were afraid for your beloved characters to share scenes with them. Now every bad guy has layers. Michael Baldwin redeemed, Kevin redeemed, Phylis somewhat redeemed, and even Sheila. Makes it hard to root for our heroes like the good ol days. Come on soaps get with it.

  • Derrick

With Delia’s death and the controversial surrounding it, I like to see how Y&R do………………..

  • Shawn

    GO GH!!!

  • moshane58

great for GH. Hope people will back Y&R and B&B.Reading different forum see people are mad but don’t give up on the soaps. Just back them and stick it out.

  • Andy

Well deserved GH. It’s been very solid and fans are tuning in!

  • sofaspud

Agree with Tyrone. The villains have kicked GH into orbit with exciting stories (silly or not, they’re very entertaining). Michael, Kiki, Sabrina continue to pull it down but they’re hardly on much now. It’s the vets vs the villains that are making this show must-see. Go GH!

  • robert

What happened to B&B. Their were a lot of news preemptions last week. Not surprised with Y&R’S fall. Jill Phelps continues to destroy the show.

  • Heather

A message has been sent to Y&R that it doesn’t have a monopoly for the #1 spot in the ratings, at least not in the 18-49 demo which I think is what matters the most to these network suits. So Y&R better get its act together or it could very well stay #2 on a permanent basic (unlikely scenario but still a possibility).

As for GH, I think that ABC is happy with the show at the moment. It along with The Chew are apparently the new darlings of ABC while The View is implicitly becoming the black sheep of the lineup.

  • moshane58

@ Heather I left a post last week the comment about GH fans will watch anything was a comment made by Dee not me and I was asking her why and it was cruel to say that. Wanted to clear that up….

  • Barb

I still don’t get the continued concentration in this demographic. A couple of decades ago would be understandable but women no longer are the housewives / moms staying at home to take care of the kids but also trying to earn a living in the workforce so, the rating is never going to reach the highs they once did. I would think overall audience / later viewing figures should be of higher value but, it’s just my own opinion that doesn’t count since I’m not a Nielsen home and would not be one even if asked.

  • tj

@Barb While I agree the truth of the matter is advertisers help pay for programming. They say that the targeted demo are the ones who shop. The networks need this money pure and simple. If the network has a show kicking butt in the demo they’re gonna pay top dollar for an advertising slot. No other way around it. That’s why the cheaper reality shows are well liked by the networks. They get the money if the demo is good and they’re saving more money from not paying actors. Between Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak being gone ABC saved millions right there. Sad but true.

  • Mike

Y&R has not had a monopoly on 18-49 for several years now. It has been beaten several times. It has just not been since 2011 when it got beaten there last and that was by GH during the Brenda return and Balkan story in 2011.

To me the big story with these ratings is how much Y&R and B&B dropped in both total viewers and 18-49. If it was not caused by pre-emptions then it should send a big message to CBS and to Sony esp. if it becomes a trend.

For me B&B is still enjoyable but Y&R is just big time hit and miss for me. There is much of it I don’t even bother watching anymore when I view it on the weekends.

  • Marissa

I’m thrilled for GH. Way to go! I’m absolutely loving the show right now. There is quite a bit of momentum …. hoping they can maintain this momentum and build upon it. And NOT dud, which has been known to happen. LOL

  • jonboyelk

I’ve said it elsewhere and I will say it here: I’m sure all of us have seen a child character tragically killed off many times in our soap viewing lives, so the Y&R Delia death is nothing new. This has given the Y&R actors a chance to really shine in their roles and most are doing a must see TV job of it. Y&R had been a yawn for months before this unfortunate happening but now I anticipate each day.

  • jonboyelk

Good for GH but I wonder how long RC can keep up this breakneck speed story telling. When you’re going 100 miles an hour inevitably you must eventually slow down. And his slowdowns are brutal.
