Young and the Restless sucks! Bold and the Beautiful sucks! That’s all k bye

I believe today (Oct 21) will be the debut of the new writers for Y&R….. I’ve noticed a lot of the message boards have the majority of the people saying they hate that Delia has died. Not just a little, but to the point of not watching the show any longer. I will be interested to see the ratings for Y&R next week where the majority of the week was about this one situation. I thought it was odd that they killed off the child also so soon after we had to say goodbye to Katherine, and with that never ending mentioning of Cassie (same situation years ago), and after doing this same type storyline with Coleen a few years back. Obviously the child’s eyes will be donated to Adam’s new baby, the way Coleen’s heart was given to Victor. The best part for me was that the show was actually focused on something else for a change instead of the Fab 4. That’s a MAJOR plus in my book!

But how many times have you read that type of stuff on message boards. It was heralded over and over when Cassie died on Y&R. It was said again when the child died on Days. Then the same when they killed off EJ and Sami’s baby. And then when they killed off Jason & Elizabeth’s child on GH.

Soap fans are the most fickle set of folks in the world. They will promise to never watch the show again and then a few weeks later when the next big thing happens they are eating the show up.

Look at how mad people were back in June with GH saying they would never watch the show again because of Franco. The same with all the people who vowed to never watch OLTL again when they fired the actors playing the gay couple. Most of them returned again when the show did the two Todds story and so on.

It surprises me that the powers that be behind the soaps even listen to soap board fans anymore. They constantly change their minds.

Cab— Jennifer Aniston is not going to appear on “Days of Our Lives.” Her father has not even been afforded the courtesy of a contract for the past 18 years. He works freelance.

Huge drop off for Y&R.Can’t wait so see ratings for October 14-18.Even with Delia dying the show has been boring.

  • lizziemarie

yes robert is awake ; anna and robert please get back together.Duke go back to turkey your a nice guy, but anna will alway;s love robert more.

Next week’s ratings report will be the first week Phelps goes up against her numbers from a year ago when Josh’s stuff first aired.

It’ll be interesting to see if the downward trend continues, but the ratings now really aren’t any better than when Maria left.

Also not good for BB. It seems their ratings mirror what YR does and vice versa. So maybe YR is pulling them down, although I haven’t been enjoying the new Hope storyline with Liam and Wyatt.

  • Fielding

Good to see B&B down. It is truly execrable.

  • James

Always glad to see GH doing 2.7M viewers. Just really want it to get closer to 3M.

  • Chrisann D

    Good to see GH up!!

  • Mike

James, ABC is much happier with this increase than they are with the increases GH made last year.

Last year when GH was getting up in the 3 mil mark or closer to it they weren’t doing as well in the 18-49 demo. This time it is increasing too. To them this is a much better increase. If it continues and becomes a trend it helps with more money for the show as ABC can charge more to advertise on the show.

I knew it was just a matter of time befote GH reclaimed #1 status…even if it doesn’t last it was well deserved! Great job cast and crew!!!

Mike…I agree about soap fans being fickle, although the same can probably be said of other genre fans. Delia was not that big of a presence on Y&R, so the vows to never watch again can be a bit puzzling. Perhaps I’m a bit biased as I don’t much care for Elizabeth Hendrickson or her character, Chloe (Delia’s mother).

I remember the howls of protest and ABC canceled AMC and OLTL and the vows of boycott. However, I cannot really see any evidence that A) a sizable boycott ever materialized, and B) if a boycott did exist, it damaged the ratings to a noticeable effect.

Soap writers and producers should look to the soap fans to see what storyline or character/actor is “clicking”, but not necessarily when it comes to actual story.

  • jonboyelk

….and, sorry but, the child actor who played Delia was not that good. Always looking at the camera.

  • Umanyways

This clearly shows that while the y&r & b&b fan base remains forever supportive and solid for their fave shows, Days & GH have gained more new viewers that may not have seen it before and viewers watching the show again. Which boils down to the writing and acting. Days & GH are having more realistic yet outrageous storylines that stand out. Also doesn’t hurt that Days won top honors at the daytime Emmys this year. Both soaps need to keep this formula throughout this year because once y&R & B&b have more veterans and cliff hangers the more fans will watch. Plus you don’t hear too many characters leaving those cbs soaps as much as Days and GH. By the way how’s Amc and one life to live doing in hulu?

  • Mike

Well considering that OLTL has all but been cancelled (put on hold is the official word) and AMC is in limbo and the fact that neither one of them are airing new episodes on Hulu right now — they aren’t doing all that well.

Hulu has even had to refund money back to all it’s customers since they were promised a certain number of episodes and PP did not deliver so Hulu had to give money back to all customers who purchased the season pass.

AMC was supposed to begin production again in October according to SOD but so far the actors or producers have heard nothing from Prospect Park.

  • Clark

I think they need to pull the plug on AMC & OLTL.

  • jonboy

All this drama about refusing GH to continue to use the characters of a show that looks as though its resurrection is short-lived.

  • Clark

It’s ridiculous and laughable at this point. Prospect Park needs to give it up and just move on.
