CLUB LEON AND TOLUCA FACE OFF WITH A PLAYOFF BERTH ON THE LINE LIVE ON TELEMUNDO THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 AT 9PM/8C/6P
MIAMI – OCTOBER 22, 2013- Club Leon and Toluca face off with a postseason berth on the line live on Telemundo this Saturday, October 26 at 9PM/8C/6P. Andres Cantor will be calling the action alongside Sammy Sadovnik, who will be providing his analysis and commentary during what will be the Mexican League’s Week 15 marquee matchup between two title contenders that look to potentially clinch a playoff spot with a win. Leon needs a win to advance, while Toluca can also clinch with a win and a Veracruz and Puebla tie or loss.
Leon currently stands in third place with 25 points, seven behind tournament leader America, with three matches and a total of nine points left to play in the regular season. Leon is coming off a tough loss to Queretaro and looks to redeem itself with a victory that would send them to the postseason for the second time in the last three tournaments since their return to Mexico’s top flight. Leon’s main weapon on offense is Argentinean forward Mauro Boselli, who is one of the Mexican League’s highest scorers with six goals in 12 matches. The home team will also rely on a stout defense, which is led by Jonny Magallon and ranks second in the league with just 11 goals allowed.
Toluca is right behind their opponent this Saturday in the standings, giving chase in fourth place with 24 points, and already knows what it takes to win at Nou Camp Stadium having won there in January during Week 3 of the 2013 Clausura by a score of 2-1. This time, Toluca will boast an additional offensive weapon in Pablo Velazquez, who shares honors with Santos’ Oribe Peralta as the Mexican League’s top scorer with nine goals. Velazquez is a vital part of the league’s highest scoring team with 29 goals, a bulk of which have come with blowout wins over Queretaro 4-0 in Week 11 and a 7-1 thrashing of Atlante in Week 12.
