body of proof

Deadline reports that ABC is considering resurrecting legal procedural Body of Proof. The story notes that a resurrection would be difficult since the cast and crew have moved on.

Bill later added: Impossible to judge the credibility/likelihood of this happening, little PR birds have a willing ear to whisper into in Nellie Andreeva, but sometimes they speak the truth.

However, the idea Body Of Proof's return somehow has to do with the fate of new fall series Betrayal and Once Upon A Time in Wonderland is completely ridiculous. First of all, both of those shows are completely dead. There is nothing contingent about their fates. (although if ABC's considering switching an hour of sitcom time to dramas next season that would make sense) Second of all, any resurrection of Body Of Proof would be for the 2014-15 season at the earliest, so it would seem more contingent on the perceived quality of this spring's pilots.

    What the heck?

What will happen to the cancel bear will it throw Body of proof up? :)

Don’t see this happening unless ABC’s midseason dramas REALLY SUCK.

Oh boy, just when you thought you’d heard the end of all the “bring back BOP” talk, someone decides to feed the fanatics.

I notice though, that there is not a single source cited in the ‘article’. It’s amazing what passes for journalism these days.

Man, this show has lives! I mean, if it comes back I’ll be happy to watch it again, but it’s uncanny how many chances it get. Maybe it could work as a summer drama?

  • Scandalfan

I’d rather they bring back Private Practice it did better in the ratings than Body Of Proof.

    What in the hell…

Well, all in all, the show performed well in its slot, especially total viewership. All it lacked was the 18-49 demo, which I bet if ABC works on promotion as a reboot, new viewers will tune in and it just may be a hit again, like it once was in its 1st season.

Yep, that’s what happen when you have year over year declines in virtually every timeslot (except Scandal, and Agents of Shield). Even still though, I don’t see this happening. Too much work would be needed to get this show back into production, and presumably they would want it for this season, and I don’t know that it is possible on this short of notice. I think the earliest it would be ready is March, but even that’s pushing it, and if they can make it to March without the show, do they really need it that bad?

Damn they’re desperate! The fact that they wanna bring back a low-rated drama clearly states that they don’t believe in the dramas they picked up that haven’t aired yet.

  • Dave

    Poor ABC!

While I don’t look forward to having this article referenced a few hundred times in the next few months, I do have the satisfaction that at least those people will have their renewal hopes shattered yet again! ;)

    Damn they’re desperate!

Haven’t you seen The Walking Dead’s ratings? Zombie shows are in! ;)

“What will happen to the cancel bear will it throw Body of proof up?”

    Good one.

    @Nellie Andreeva
Body Of Proof‘s cancellation after three seasons was a head-scratcher.

The delusion is strong with this one.

Maybe people wouldn’t be so frustrated about their shows being canceled if other TV ratings sites actually gave their readers realistic opinions instead of this overly optimistic nonsense.

Sure, it sucks to like/watch something that you know will probably end this season, but that’s better than getting blindsided every May.

ABC desperately needs another procedural to balance all these serials. I just never got why they cancelled BoP outright. Give it a 13-episode order and see what happens to line-up. I guess if UnF can be revived, I suppose anything is possible. BTW == What is it with Tuesday 10PM procedurals getting UnCancelled?

  • Dan W

I was honestly very surprised this was canceled in the first place. I thought it had decent ratings in its’ time slot. Could definitely see it work as a summer show a la Unforgettable. Would really love it if this show was uncanceled. I enjoy it so much!!!

  • Alecia

If this is true where would it go since ABC already has three mid season dramas and as many slots?

  • Ram510

Haha and this shows how bad things are at ABC
