body of proof

Deadline reports that ABC is considering resurrecting legal procedural Body Of Proof. The story notes that a resurrection would be difficult since the cast and crew have moved on.

Bill later added: Impossible to judge the credibility/likelihood of this happening, little PR birds have a willing ear to whisper into in Nellie Andreeva, but sometimes they speak the truth.

However, the idea Body Of Proof's return somehow has to do with the fate of new fall series Betrayal and Once Upon A Time in Wonderland is completely ridiculous. First of all, both of those shows are completely dead. There is nothing contingent about their fates. (although if ABC's considering switching an hour of sitcom time to dramas next season that would make sense) Second of all, any resurrection of Body Of Proof would be for the 2014-15 season at the earliest, so it would seem more contingent on the perceived quality of this spring's pilots.

    ABC has made terrible decisions on the past years , body of proof was around 1.9-2.0 and it had great retention out of dancing with the stars especially in overall viewers. So they suddenly decided to put it in a big hiatus and when it came back it had 1.4 (18-49) ,then they cancel it and they pickup a flop which had 0,7 …

    Why dont they move once upon a time and revenge there and let them rose instead of wasting them on sundays against 8.2 walking dead and 15.0 sports competition…

    I assume the article meant Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (which us in danger) and Once Upon a Tine (which is doing fine). And ABC made a mistake cancelling the series. Bring it back. I need my Dana Delaney fix.

    I had to LOL when I saw this on Deadline yesterday. For all those loyal viewers that have been clicking their heels together–nothing is impossible.

    Maybe Dana D. gets to pass that platter of crow around after all. I would never have believed it when she said ABC would regret cancelling them.

    I really think it could do well on fridays at 9/8c !
    Shark Tank would move to Thursdays at 8/7c

    BoP was supposed to air at Fridays 9pm timeslot, but ABC got greedy and move to tuesday and then things didn’t work out.

    @ErwanFromFrance

    Shark Tank is not going anywhere. It’s doing great on Friday for ABC. If Body of Proof returns I can see it going to Thursday at 8, Friday at 8 or Sunday at 10.

    @Bill
    It says Once Upon a Time, but it should be Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, as the mother series still has healthy (though not great) ratings

    “First of all, both of those shows are completely dead.”
    OUAT is completely dead? That’s news to me.

    I wish this was true but I doubt it, although I argued that they should have kept the show as sparkle. And if there are even rumours about this with some sort of truth behind them, then I doubt ABC would really be making long term losses on the show, or else they wouldn’t bring it back to replace repeats IMO. I think ABC will have to order a huge amount of filler reality shows for this winter, I don’t know how they are going to replace all 3 failed dramas, potentially failed comedies and bridge the hiatus of 5 dramas with the 3 hours of dramas and 1 hour of comedies they currently have on hold. I am not sure how their reality situation is… I assume they have The Taste ,The Quest, Wipeout and Wife Swap but I don’t think that’s enough unless they air a lot of repeats.

    Regardless, as much as I doubt this comes to pass, I just find it funny that Body of Proof continues to mess with the cancellation bear, it doesn’t give it a rest!

    That is one of the reasons why the article seems like wishful thinking. In the article, she claims that they are considering on bringing it back for this spring season. It’s way too late for that to happen especially considering the logistics involved. I call BS. At best, somebody suggested bringing back BOP during a fall meeting, somebody said “ya, we’ll think about that, maybe this spring”, only that person didn’t realize they were being sarcastic. Just my $0.02.

    Da fuq?

    I guess it could work as a summer series, though.

    The only way BoP survives an uncancellation is if they ditch Mark Valley’s character. The whole show was a mess when he was on it. They need to work on more chemistry and more shared screen time between Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan, work on their friendship. Ditch their pathetic tries at love stories for the two women, and make it more of a crime focused show.

    Whoops! Now fixed.

    Bring back Desperate Housewives!!

  • PurpleDrazi

    I know this will be good news to Bop fans but if this actually happens it will be a sad, sad day for ABC.

  • Cyrax86

    Wow this would be truly amazing… ABC should not have cancelled it in the first place!

  • NJ Viewer

    Might as well. It’s better than the crap they’ve been putting on.

    @Bill – While OUAT Wonderland is dead and Betrayal is just burning through its order, is it possible that ABC could still cut the order of Wonderland and just air the episodes produced until Nov 21? They intended to air 6 episodes this fall and 7 in the spring but since the show is a flop, they could just not produce those episodes and just air something else next spring.

    Body of Proof probably shouldn’t have been cancelled when it was back in May, just held in ABC’s back pocket as spackle, but bringing it back now really wouldn’t make sense.

    Unforgettable was cancelled and shortly thereafter was uncancelled by CBS. The ratings for new episodes of Unforgettable were about equal for a summer series, but, nowhere near good enough for a regular season airing Sunday through Friday.

    For ABC to bring back Body of Proof would like CBS admitting most of their new Fall comedies stink and they are bringing back Rules of Engagement [the most watched show (in 18 - 49 demo and total viewers) that was cancelled in May 2013].

    I think the only show that was cancelled in 2013, that has any real chance of returning, (and it will probably be in a direct-to-DVD video if it does return), is Futurama. A cameo appearance by the cast of Futurama on a upcoming episode of the Simpsons might have an influence on it’s return if the ratings go up a great deal.

    This and Malibu Country’s cancellation I didn’t understand. Body Of Proof did better in the time slot than Private Practice and Malibu Country did extremely well compared to the Neighbors @ 8:30 on Fridays.
