Nikita final season #DIV/0!

The Originals ratings moved up in its second week in its permanent timeslot to tie Arrow as the CW's #2 show for the week. The cancellation bear is moving it to "certain to be renewed".

Reign premiered with no margin for decline last week. If it holds at or near its 0.8 premiere rating, it would be renewed, but if it suffers the typical post premiere declines it's "Off with their heads". The bear's going to wait until next week's ratings to move it off of "toss up".

The CW syndication gods will demand that Hart Of Dixie be renewed for a fourth season. Maybe it'll be a short one like Nikita's, or maybe not. The bear doesn't get into predicting episode orders. Crazy fans, and anti-fans, who'd like to predict in the comments are welcome to.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. You can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

With the Flash and a SPN spinoiff in the works, B&tB and Reign need to do way better or be axed.

Are you people who are saying that The CW needs to wait to see how BATB does after Sleepy Hollow goes off the air for the season forgetting about The Following? It premieres in January and had pretty good numbers last year. BATB is toast, enjoy the remainder of the episodes you have left and be thankful The CW rarely pulls second year shows off the air mid season.

don’t see them moving Originals if it works Tuesday, Supernatural works anywhere though…too much risk moving new shows

  • Anthony

I think Beauty and the Beast and Reign will be Bear chow at some point during the season. We all know Nikita is only getting a 6 Episode order unfortunately to end the series, so it’s difficult to predict which of the two will get the axe first. My guess is Reign, because Beast lasted one Season and has some fans. The Tomorroe People has been a good show thus far IMO and will get a full Season order eventually. No surprise The Originals is popular though. I expected that.

  • kalemeh

honestly, i haven’t seen CW this strong in a long time.

@feinn, Tuesday at 9 use to be the CW death spot, so while I would normally agree with you, Supernatural is death spot immune and therefore it should stay there. The Originals can work in multiple spots on the schedule next year including behind its parent if needed, but right now I think it’ll have the power to start off Monday nights. Of course, I won’t make that final determination until more ratings for the show come in.

Point being, Supernatural NEEDS to stay at Tuesday 9 PM.

  • Jon

HOD should have been left where they were on Tuesday nights. Not sure why they keep shuffling it around. It did good where it was last year. Leave it there and watch it grow.

  • starship

HoD would do the same wherever it goes, it has its fanbase so they threw it against The Voice + HIMYM instead of having a new show fail there. At least now they fixed their Tuesdays with The Originals and Supernatural.

  • Katey

I really hope Beauty And The Beast does Good!

B&TB, Reign and TCD are done! :D

    And of course, Nikita! :D

  • xprophet

SPN continues to be a great show!

If i could have one show be on the air for the rest of my life it would be spn.

For once I’m glad that CW gave a chance to Reign as a period drama, unique among the many sci-fi/fantasy shows…
True it’s not historically accurate but frankly for that there’s already the History Channel: at least we’ll have a less depressive plot for the queen & the visually is beautiful.
If you like “fanfiction” inspired by history give it a chance, it could become your favourite guilty pleasure as well!

About the music I get why people are complaining, however probably they messed it up being that the pilot (as a matter of fact the promos/title sequence had better chosen songs): like sometimes it happens with dvds’ release & they have to change it for copyright reasons at the last minute.
I guess we’ll have an improvement over time, at least we’ve the great Trevor Morris on board so it can’t be that bad…

CW why did you schedule B&B after Heart of Dixie; you guys sabotage them. Heart of Dixie was lower rating last spring and B&B was already having some difficulties, so airing them after the HD is not cool. It is a great show and the changes you guys made for these season are awesome. She can kick the life out of someone and Jay Ryan is just awesome. Come on CW; schedule them after a good show not after HD.
Love, Love, Love The Original (Maybe you clould air B&B after them), but of course Joseph Morgan is such a fantastic actor. Looking forward to 100 and Star Crossed. CW you gguys have awesome TV Shows – air some of them on weekend as well please! :)

  • Giulia

The Originals is terrible. Other shows deserve the spot so much more, still hope it will get cancelled

  • Adria99

I love Reign!! Please renew it!

  • mmm

reign was not watchable for me, I think its for younger people, below 15 maybe? seems meant for young teens.

tomorrow people is really getting good, main character is rough, the rest are really darn good though. some beautiful cast members there.

arrow is sluggish, but should return. same with Dixie, they seem uninterested on HoD, mailing it in. I almost think they should end it pre syndication, but we ALL know they won’t. that show is made for syndication.
