    Sad HoD and BaTB, at least 2BGs didn’t adjust down too much.

  • Shepherd

    @Someone

    You do realize that these numbers are rounded to the nearest 1/10 right. BaTB may have only been adjusted .21, but it could still show up as a .3 adjustment because of rounding.

    You’re delusional if you think that Nielsen would risk their business and their reputation just to ‘stick it’ to some low performing irrelevant show.

  • Someone

    “Nielsen is still measuring ratings and a preemption normally has an impact of one or two-tenths, but in this case the preemption was in the #1 market in the US. Bigger market = bigger impact.”

    Sure. It was the same NY market that was preempted for BATB on its premiere date that dropped it .1 points, and now its the same NY market and an additional one that dropped it a total of .3 points. What a joke.

  • RBA

    I was looking at the averages for the first 5 episodes of Castle from last year and this year, and what I notice is that this show in terms of demo is even last year and has picked up 300K additional viewers

    Average first 5 episodes of Season 5 — 2.08 and 10.64M viewers

    Average first 5 episodes of Season 6 — 2.083 and 10.95M viewers.

    I called that one steady performer.

  • Charmed

    I still don’t completely understand preemptions, but if the CW lost a major market isn’t that quite good that both shows held up?

  • Someone

    Newsflash. Nielsen is a monopoly. It has no business to risk. You people are delusional.

  • Lisa

    Hart of Dixie was not shown in the Chicagoland area last night. Pre-empted for sports. Maybe that explains some of the numbers going down?

  • Ultima

    @Someone
    Haha. I knew BATB would simply be adjusted down to the same ratings its had since its premiere date. I even called it. I bet Nielsen doesn’t even bother to do any calculations anymore. All of the comments I’ve read here by people who have commented and the ratings people have told me repeatedly that a preemption should not have that much of an impact (at most .1 or .2), but here we have some BS “adjustment” that once again makes the ratings exactly the same as before, except this time it’s a 100% adjustment in viewers and drop in points. What a joke this rating system is.

    :roll:

    The adjustment wasn’t unexpected. Cry more.

  • Samunto

    I give up on ‘Mom’. I really wanted to like it but i just can’t. Maybe i want so much of the ‘feel-good’ that i ain’t getting!

    Awesome ‘The Blacklist’ wasn’t adjusted down!

  • Eric

    The Voice lost some demo because of the TLC movie.

  • It’s funny

    They also perform pretty steadily in L+7, possibly even better this year than last year. ABC needs to figure out how to compel those viewers to watch live. LOL Magic?

  • gerry

    @ someone – if you think that nielsen really cares that much about blasting apart a show no one is watching in the first place, you might be the one that is delusional.

  • Sam

    It’s sad for BATB cause I think it is a half decent show which started of slowly last year but got better. Airing it on a Monday night and pairing it with HOD was a really bad decision. Should’ve kept it later in the and with a higher rated show. And before anyone goes shouting me down I’m not saying that’d make a great difference cause if your numbers are low, your numbers are low but it might’ve made a difference.

    Be interesting to see how Reign does the next few weeks.

    @Amanda Kondolojy (or Bill or Robert)

    Could you check out the “2013-2014 Season” thread, the numbers are wrong.

    Apologies if you already saw my comments over there, not sure how many comments you guys read and figured posting here would have higher visibility.

    Thanks!

    LOL @ Ultima

    “The adjustment wasn’t unexpected. Cry more.”

    I didn’t say it wasn’t you fool. I said it was expected. In fact I predicted it. Learn reading comprehension.

    @gerry

    It’s not about blasting Nielsen in affecting a show. It’s blasting them in their retarded ratings system.

  • BBFan

    Exactly. The CW lost at least Chicago & New York city to sports last night. Those ep will air in those markets on Sun night. Those #’s will be added back in then. It has to work this way because CW is selling to national advertisers that are interested in a national avg for the shows. They have no interest in what these shows do locally in those markets on Sun night.

    @RBA

    The best thing about about a ‘steady older-skwewing’ show on an network that has only one other show perfoming better at 10pm is that ‘Castle’ going to last.

    ‘Boston Legal’ may have gotten the boot but ABC has bigger problems at this time to not guarantee another season of ‘Castle’.
