Delia’s death must have brought in good ratings for Y&R. It was good to see B&B rebound from the low in the demo last week.

  • Jeff

Not a fan of either show, but glad to see them up in the ratings. All soaps get to thrive again!

  • Matt

Yes, the oh-so “original” Delia dying storyline brought in good ratings for Y&R.

Every DOES realize that this Story was a straight, complete copy of Jake’s death storyline on General Hospital from 2011, right? JFP really needs to stop beating a dead horse and trying to compete, because GH is on its way to beating Y&R in the 18-49 demo almost every week. Last week it did for the first time 3 years, and this week GH paced within one-tenth of it.

  • Derrick

Yes…………..Delia’s death brought in the ratings!
Go Y&R! Was upset they killed off Delia but the writing and acting was beautiful!

A kid died on one show. A kid died on another show. Get over it. I heard someone had an affair back in 1992 on Days of our Lives, I guess that’s why there’s not been any affairs on the soaps since then.

Go Y&R and JFP! Glad that all of the people who claimed to have stopped watching Y&R really didn’t stop. Repeat storylines happen ALL the time on soaps. Glad to see Y&R, B&B and GH doing well.

  • moshane58

Don’t watch Y&R but glad it had a rebound from last week. Glad soap fans are staying true to the soaps..

  • Bart

I love my “Y & R” and it has been must-see drama over the past couple of weeks!! Billy Miller will surely receive another Emmy for his performance!!

    Been watching the show since 1981 – GO Y & R!!!

  • Jeff

JFP is great at stunts to raise ratings. It’s what she did at GH pretty much every sweeps time. Then, the show sucked wind in between, and after a few years, her sweeps stunts sucked too. And, they always feature death. She is definitely the grim reaper of soap producers. So sorry Y&R fans have to endure her. Only in the world of soaps do you get fired from your job for being horrible, then get the same job handed to you.

  • Scandalfan

Y&R is the only soap i watch so happy it’s doing well.

  • Greg

JFP’s idea of killing off Maureen on Guiding Light brought in some ratings as well. Then it backfired and she was…fired. I think she did something on Another World too like that. Frankie? She’s infamous for killing off characters. BUT, in defense…the GH fans out there pointing fingers at repeat storylines…seriously? You’re just hitting your 50th anniversary. There are ALOT of storylines your show copied over the years, from shows that were MUCH older than yours. Learn what serial storytelling is, and acknowledge the fact you were late to the party.

Yep Phelps was at GL from 1991 to 1995. Maureen was killed off in 1993…so she stayed almost 2 more years after she killed off Maureen. All but the final season that she was there GL’s ratings went up and they got a lot of Emmy love. The final season they dropped and never recovered.

It is just strange last week everyone was proclaiming Y&R was dead and no one was going to watch it anymore. And then Y&R rebounds. It has been the story of ratings for soaps for years now. They even regained the #1 position in the key demo back.

The whole Delia storyline is also similar to another child(ish) death on Y&R from more than a few years earlier: the death of Cassie Newman. Although Cassie didn’t die from a hit-and-run, she was still a child (or non-adult) character from a prominent family (more prominent than Delia’s parents) whose death helped save another characters life thru organ donation.

  • John

TPIR needs to do more to appeal to female viewers.

  • Mike

Not just that death but even longer back it is similar to the death of Laura English on All My Children back in the late 80s or early 90s. She got hit by a drunk driver.

Soaps have been doing child deaths for years now.

  • Reine

I love Y&R & it has been great in the last 3 weeks with amazing acting by so mnay actors. Do love Chelsea with Adam even though I did like her a lot with Dylan. I don’t really like the Delia storyline but I would never stop watching the show because of it.
