All Star Apprentice

Amid rumors that NBC veteran reality program The Apprentice would not be returning for a 14th cycle, NBC’s head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy made the following statement:

We are on track to produce The Celebrity Apprentice as always planned, coordinating among New York City weather conditions, sponsor needs, and celebrities’ schedules

Anyone else expecting this to grab 9 to 11PM on Thursdays this Spring to let NBC work on other night?

  • DW

only for cheap programming. outside of that , no. CA was under a 2.0 for all of last year. i cant see it beating scandal at 10 and i cant see it beating the crazy ones at 9 and 2 1/2 men at 930. thursday nights are going to be a dog for NBC for a while.

they are coordinating around nyc weather? what are they waiting for, a blizzard? doesn’t sound like this is happening anytime soon…

  • Nick

NBC would be really smart to air this Thursdays 9-10 (or maybe even 9-11).

  • TVDude

Pretty much anything that’s not a comedy would probably do better Thursday 9-10pm then what is currently there. I don’t see CA doing anything special there, but better is better. I have a feeling NBC will keep it on Sunday nights though.

  • Bill

This won’t be back until next fall at the earliest I’d say.

  • Kit

CA was always produced the in the fall before airing in the Spring. NBC has the Winter Olympics this year so it won’t premier until after that so they have a bit more time to get it going.

This, along with Parks And Recreation, are the only shows I care about on NBC.

Funny to me, every comment here is for airing it on Thursday. As I remember it, the non celebrity Apprentice was the first departure for NBC from their Must See Comedy’s Thursdays and the death nail for them on this night where for years they ruled !!

  • Kit

Apprentice on Thursday actually did well. The death knell for them was not developing good scripted shows after Friends ended.

Celebrity Apprentice did terrible last year on Sunday with barely any reality network competition. I can’t imagine how badly it will do if NBC does schedule it on Thursday (there’s no other day or time that’s open).

If CA is scheduled 8-9pm it’ll probably score a 1.3 18-49 rating (no better than a Voice re-run).

    If CA is scheduled 9-10pm it’ll probably score a 1.4 18-49 rating.

I can’t see this helping them on Thursdays much.

I’m assuming, if it does air this season, that it’ll wind up on Sundays again, just because I think the odds of Sundays 9-11 actually being Believe/Crisis is almost zero.

Why Celebrity, a non-celebrity program would be groundbreaking in today’s tv landscape.

I also thought this was a Sunday Show after SNF

  • Michael1

Can they just make Omarosa a permanent fixture on the show? Honestly, she’s the one unifying force amongst anyone who has seen the show.

  • Michael1

What they need to do is try to get the people that were referenced in the fall season of “Family Guy”. If they could possibly do that, their star power would be greatly enhanced.

  • ABC hater

This should be a Summer show by now.

i think they are waiting to see how trump is going to act in the upcoming election. if he starts his crap they will kill it. they don’t need the bad press this morn brings. will he keep his mouth shut…………yes……….he needs the money.

  • Jamey

    Summer bound

  • Bear1000

Trump’s “Apprentice”, be it the regular version or the celebrity, lost its steam in both ratings and creativity quite a while ago. Just let it go NBC.

  • brian

Note: No mention of Donald Trump was made at all in the announcement. Perhaps they’re considering replacing Trump with someone less controversial?
