Nikita final season

The Carrie Diaries was one of the cancellation bear's notable misses last season (the other being Hannibal). It had woeful ratings, and yet was renewed. The best the bear can guess its that the CW didn't want to (or couldn't) premiere more than 3 new shows in the Fall and therefore had to hold over one more show from last season.

Regardless of the reason, the show's woeful premiere ratings this season mark it as likely to be canceled by the end of this season. Could the bear be wrong again? Stay tuned.

The bear's keeping Reign at a "toss up", even after its week two ratings decline. He's got plenty of time to move it down later. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

With three seasons complete, the CW syndication gods will demand that Hart Of Dixie be renewed for a fourth season. Maybe it'll be a short one like Nikita's, or maybe not. The bear doesn't get into predicting episode orders. Crazy fans, and anti-fans, who'd like to predict in the comments are welcome to.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Supernatural-Oz spin off with Charley as lead sadly seems to be wishful thinking.

I say this knowing full well my opinion means nothing and doesn’t overrule anyone else’s, but I think The Tomorrow People is going to be canceled. Or renewed with ratings that make people mad with how low they are. But hopefully I’m wrong.
I like the idea of doubling up the Supernatural-Vampire Dairies & their spinoffs in whatever combo, that makes me giggle :) Although those who think Supernatural is moving to Mondays seem just as likely to me.

  • starship

The SPN spin-off is about hunter and monster families in Chicago trying to co-exist, nothing to do with Charlie and its backdoor pilot will be next spring.
I also think that TTP will sadly be cancelled, but it really depends on how their midseason shows do and how many new shows they pick next year, for now I’d be shocked if it doesn’t get a full season.

  • JOE

The Carrie Diaries and BatB are dead
Reign will make it to February but that is it
    Tomorrow People will make it

HOD will move to Friday next fall paired with ANTM
Supernatural will move to Mondays and paired with a new show

  • Charmed

Okay, why can’t I comment here?

  • Charmed

It wouldn’t let me before :/

  • Randy

I don’t even understand why the CW is around. Their ratings are just so bad. Wouldn’t they be better making CBS II or something? It’s okay to have more “teenish” shows, but obviously you can’t make a whole network of it because they aren’t watching enough of those shows.

  • Tom

“Wouldn’t they be better making CBS II or something?”

CBS in never going to spend money to directly compete with itself for network ratings. The CW is just a vehicle for CBS and Warner Brothers Entertainment to market a limited number of programs. It appears that CBS and Warners only offered the CW eight pilots for 2013-14. The CW chose to air five of the pilots. It’s not clear why the other three pilots were rejected. Perhaps the CW didn’t have the budget to buy them. However, it’s pretty clear that none of those eight programs would ever have appeared on the prime time CBS schedule. So, I believe that CBS and Warners are much less concerned about the ratings a CW program receives than how much money they are likely to make by keeping the program on the air.

  • Charmed

    Carrie Diaries ratings (Marc Berman)

    0.4 1.05 million/0.3 833,000

    Increase from last week :D

  • Rebooted

This is what CW needs to do for midseason:

    Star Crossed (new)

    The Originals

    The Tomorrow People

    The Vampire Diaries
    The 100

    Hart of Dixie

    save BaTB until summer 2014

  • Charmed

    So that’s a 0.4 18-49, 0.94 million for Carrie, right?

  • Brian

I love The Carrie Diaries. And it was one of the CW’s most steamed shows last season. That should count for something.

  • jason50

    End of the season:
    Carrie Diaries GONE
Reign and The Tomorrow People almost GONE

Actually too early to tell on the last two. Gotta see how Star Crossed and the 100 do. I think 2 of those four will be renewed and CW brings out 4-5 new series next year depending on how many episodes for each series.

  • Charmed

TCD got a 0.6 this week in W18-34, which I imagine is the show’s target demo. Tied with Arrow, Reign, and ANTM for 4th and beats HoD, BATB and TTP. Interesting

  • Mina

Why is CW throwing money at BATB and sending the cast to NYC every month to shoot exteriors? Do not understand CW.

  • Truth

CBS Studios and their Canadian co-producers are throwing money at them. CW just pays a flat license fee.

  • Joe

One less Reality TV show is good as far as I am concerned.

  • Karla

@Mina where do you get the info, about CBS sending the cast every month to NYC? They have only sent the leads only one time in 4 months of filming, the other time they were in NYC was for comic con only. Jeeeeeze some people just love to make up stories…

  • Mina

It was a NYCC interview with Jay. Commanded by Pedowitz, he said. Ratings are bad and they figured ratings would be even worse this year, so why send them to NY? Production costs are not cheap here. I don’t get the head of CW.

  • feinn

So if season 10 of supernatural is final season , if could be less than 22 episodes

  • starship

Even if next season ends up being Supernatural’s last (and I doubt it, given the fact that the 2 stars indicated they’re willing to sign on for more), there’s zero chance it’s a short season. It is the second highest rated show on the CW, might even be first by the time next season rolls in, no chance they will not milk it for all it’s worth.
