Through five games, the 2013 World Series on FOX is averaging an 8.5/14 and 14.1 million viewers, +12% over last year’s World Series (7.6/12, 12.7 million viewers), and ranks as the highest-rated World Series since the New York Yankees met the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009.

Last night’s broadcast peaked at an 11.7/19 and 18.8 million viewers at 11:00 PM ET as Red Sox reliever Koji Uehara shut down the Cardinals in the ninth.

According to figures released by Nielsen SocialGuide, FOX was the No. 1 most social TV network on Monday, driven by the World Series. Twitter activity for last night’s World Series Game 5 saw impressive increases over 2011.  The game drew over 485,000 tweets (up 407% from 2011 World Series Game 5) from more than 232,000 unique authors (up 288%). According to Facebook, World Series Game 5 generated 3.7 million interactions from 2.1 million users. The Red Sox won the team buzz battle, generating 68% of the comments, likes, and posts during the game.

Hahaha laughable numbers for game 5. 14.3? You have to kidding. Where is the red sox so called popularity? This is embarrassing. I bet game 6 is lower than 2011 which was over 21 million.

  • Tom

    Wow 18.8 million peak

  • aj

@ jay. The game 5 of that series in 2011 has 14.3 million views. This game had 14.5. Settle down bro.

  • E

Fox has to be very disappointed with these numbers considering the teams involved. They better hit 20 million for game 6. If not, it will be a complete embarrassment.

    @E
I agree E. FOX must be scratching their heads wondering why this series isn’t generating a bigger number. Lets hope Cards win game 6 and then the all deciding game 7. I say 18 million for game 6 Wednesday and if there is a game 7 then 23 million viewers.

  • Edward

I thought game 5, with the series being tied and competitive so far. Would generate close to 18 mill…….Disappointing for sure for FOX.

  • AppleStinx

The Red Sox won game 5?? Hmmm…ok…

  • TomKH

If there’s a game 7, it will have close to 30 million viewers. A lot of people will tune in hoping to see the Red Sox lose.

  • AppleStinx

The Red Sox did well this season and into the playoffs because I didn’t watch any of their games. Not watching game 6 either.

I decided to check how the game was going at the top of the 7th inning. Red Sox up 6-0. Then the Cardinals score on a hit to 3rd (3rd baseman not there), then load the bases. I could watch no more. Arghh.

  • AppleStinx

Phew! Nothing became of the loaded bases. The Red Sox won after all. Yes!
