    I 100% guarantee that if Revenge is moved to a weekday it’s ratings will jump to OUAT levels and stay that way. If ABC are going to have the audacity to not move Revenge, kill it with an impossible timeslot, look at the numbers and go “Oh, guess we’d better cancel it” I’ll seriously be reconsidering my dedication to this network.

    Revenge was their golden child and they sacrificed it to the lions because they wanted to plug a hole. Where’s the integrity in that? Would they ever do that to precious Scandal or even Nashville (which has one of the cushiest timeslots ever)? It’s getting pretty clear that ABC doesn’t give a damn about Revenge and I’m tired of it.

    You guys need to accept that people have simply lost interest in Revenge – these excuses are getting silly!

    Last fall Revenge had exactly the same competition and it was rating roughly a full ratings point higher. People will watch if they are interested, regardless of the competition.

    Moving to 10pm Wednesday won’t fix the problem either. The damage has already been done. Just because its in another timeslot doesn’t mean that millions of viewers will flock back to a show they haven’t watched in a year.

    @Randy
    My comment is only ridiculous if you take it out of context, as you did.

    No, your statement was blatantly false, no matter what the context. Football has virtually no impact on entertainment ratings.

    It doesn’t matter what you were comparing; saying that football is a barrier to decent ratings is WRONG. Period.

    @Randy

    And since you insist that I actually talk about the shows you want to talk about…

    Yes, if Hawaii Five-0 were airing at 9pm Sunday instead of Fridays, it would obviously have higher ratings that it does right now (and subsequently higher ratings than The Good Wife has right now).

    It’s silly to even think otherwise.

    People are still interested in Revenge, just not watching it live. The DVR numbers show people still have interest. Betrayal, that’s a show people clearly aren’t interested (live & DVR).

    Revenge did not have to take on as strong of competition last year (at this time). The Breaking Bad series finale was much stronger than any episode last season, The Walking Dead is WAY stronger this year, Sunday Night Football is solid, and the World Series was up quite a bit this Sunday compared to last year. So the competition is higher. Let’s face it, people choose to watch things like sports live, you can’t just DVR it. Revenge you can. Plus Revenge is probably doing decent on Hulu, Amazon, iTunes, Watch ABC, On Demand, etc.

    Point is, Revenge is still in a safe zone for now. Shows like Betrayal and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland are most likely going to be canceled. Unless one of the midseason dramas is a big hit for ABC, I don’t see Revenge getting canceled this season. I do see ABC ordering a fourth & final season for it, but not just canceling it. It would do the show justice to end after season 4, because if The Grayson’s aren’t taken down this season, I wouldn’t even know what to say. I hope the writers pull new twists to breathe life into it this season (major character death, finally having revenge taken against the Grayson’s, etc.).

    Overall viewers don’t matter to advertisers at all plus when Revenge was up a tenth over TGW, TGW had more viewers then too. So really who cares if TGW had more viewers because advertisers don’t.

  • cas

    I don’t understand why people stop watching shows because they don’t like characters either. You know how many shows I continued to watch when I don’t like characters? Greys is a perfect example. I have disliked many characters over the years but still watched. Characters come and go in shows. And if I did stop watching a show, and some reason they killed a few characters off that would not entice me to start watching again even if I didn’t like the characters. So the logic there is off too.

    Overall viewers don’t matter as they say, but it’s still a bit of a tiebreaker for otherwise equally rated shows.

    Your [H50] show will go on. CBS did what they had to do to ensure that.

    That’s all I’ve been trying to say all along, really, that the H50 ratings are more than good enough for CBS on a Friday night, even against the stiffened competition that now includes Grimm.

    And had you read all of my posts over the past few weeks I have said this several times before……;-)

  • Randy

    @Ultima,

    Why do you think H50 would have HIGHER ratings than The Good Wife on Sundays if it were moved there?

    It is SILLY to assume that.It was dropping horribly last season on Mondays and what? Suddenly Sunday was going to raise that up?
    CBS moved it to Fridays to build syndication because if they put it on any other night where it would have to have competition it probably was going to fail miserably and they would have to cancel it.
    I realize in renew/cancel it is against the other dramas on CBS and that is why I wonder what would happen of TGW and H50 switched places.

    But I disagree with you about sports competition. The networks realize that sports take away the best demo and OF COURSE take that into account, but that doesn’t mean the numbers were fixed because of football/World Series.

    All that means is the networks get the ratings as they are and then decide how to handle them.

    TGW held up with a 1.4 against the World Series and SNF. Those were its ratings. Football was still on and so was the WS. Yet it got a 1.4.

    H50 on a Friday had Shark Tank in first place and Grimm in 2nd place. You can’t compare that kind of competition with football and the WS.
    H50 only beat a Simpson’s repeat and a CW show I never heard about before.

    It could only muster a 1.4 and almost identical # of viewers as TGW.

    Whether the networks afterwards make their decisions understanding how sports will cream the scripted shows is understandable. BUT THAT DOESN’T CHANGE WHAT THE RAW RATINGS ARE.

    Fridays is CBS’s place for weak shows in or heading into syndication to survive. H50 is there and even though it is doing poorly, it will survive to build episodes. Period.
    It is silly to think otherwise.

    I think ABC should move Scandel to 9PM Sunday, cancel Betrayal and move Revenge to 10PM Sunday. Then some new show gets Grey’s Anatomy for Thursday nite lead-in and ABC gets a stronger Sunday. Provided Scandel stays strong on Sundays which I think it would.

  • Justin

    The Walking Dead didn’t beat Sunday Night Football… head-to-head football won having 1/3 larger audience.
