via press note:

The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm – 5.4 million and 1.7/4 in AD18-49): Building on its repeat S.H.I.E.L.D. lead-in (4.3 million and 1.2/4) 9pm, ABC’s The Goldbergs was up week to week in Total Viewers (+4% to a 3-week high) and held 100% of its Adult 18-49 delivery (matching a 3-week high).  The Goldbergs beat Fox’s The X Factor (4.4 million and 1.5/4)  in the hour by 1.0 million viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49.

  • The Goldbergs was up over by double-digit margins over ABC’s year-ago original of Happy Endings (4.3 million and 1.4/5 on 10/30/12) in the half hour, which had the advantage of airing out of an original DWTS, gaining 26% in Total Viewers and 21% in Adults 18-49.

Trophy Wife (9:30-10pm – 4.3 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49): In the 9:30pm half-hour, ABC’s Trophy Wife was up week to week in Total Viewers (+5% to a 3-week high) and Adults 18-49 (+17% to match its 2nd highest rating).

  • Like its lead-in, Trophy Wife grew from ABC’s year-ago original Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt 23 (3.3 million and 1.2/3 on 10/30/12) in the half hour, improving by 30% in Total Viewers and by 17% in Adults 18-49.

Go trophy wife, fav show of season

  • Scandalicious

Let this be a sign ABC: Trophy Wife could find an even bigger audience on Wednesday nights!

  • Proemed

The Goldbergs are hilarious! It gets better each wk. Yes life was really like that. U have to see it to believe it though

  • Rob R

Trophy Wife is a little gem with lots of potential.

I’ll believe ABC’s optimism when they order back 9s.

  • Dan

I think ABC might order full seasons of all 4 new comedies. These Tuesday comedies while not doing amazingly are an improvement over Happy Endings and Apartment 23, and them building on a 1.2 repeat is very impressive, Also while the Wednesday comedies could be doing better they are doing adequately enough to earn back 9s.

While both TG and TW would flourish on Wednesday night, I bet that ABC recognized they were superior to the 2 new Wed. comedies — and that’s why they have the Tuesday spot — as a means of building a new comedy night. I think ABC will see how things go for the next two months before making any final decisions. But improving SHIELD would certainly help. To date, it is not deserving of the hype it received.

Goldberg has had more out loud laughs this season than Big Bang IMO
