The Talk will celebrate the long-running series “The Love Boat,” one of the most popular and iconic shows of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT), with a special reunion show featuring cast members Gavin MacLeod (Captain Merrill Stubing), Bernie Kopell (Dr. Adam “Doc” Bricker), Ted Lange (Isaac Washington), Fred Grandy (Burl “Gopher” Smith), Lauren Tewes (Julie McCoy) and Jill Whelan (Vicki Stubing).

Cast members will share behind-the-scenes stories from their days on the series, the episodes they most enjoyed and their favorite celebrity guest stars.  Jack Jones, who sang the original “The Love Boat” theme song, will perform the song live for the studio audience.  In addition, Gavin MacLeod will discuss his new book This is Your Captain Speaking:  My Fantastic Voyage Through Hollywood, Faith & Life.

“The Love Boat,” which premiered 36 years ago and ran until 1986, followed the romantic and often comic tales of the passengers and crew of a cruise ship.

The Talk features a panel of well-known news and entertainment personalities who examine current events, pop culture, contemporary issues, family, celebrity and the trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is co-hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler. The hosts swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes. Show segments include guest interviews with entertainers and newsmakers, musical performances, how-to demos and appearances from extraordinary people with stories that engage and inform. The show was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer.

This will be fun to watch. I loved The Love Boat back in the day on Saturday nights and in reruns. But since it aired on ABC, wouldn’t it have made more sense to have the cast appear on GMA, The View, or The Chew?

The Love Boat was a fun show during the time (light entertainment) with a nice variety of guest stars. One of my local stations just started airing it again recently.

The costumes which the hosts wore depicting the Love Boat crew were hilarious! I don’t watch “The Talk” but was glad to have caught this episode; thanks in part to this article! Great to see all of the cast show up!
