While the situation with the three remaining CBS rookie sitcoms remains fluid, the recent ratings for Mom put it within the range that indicates likely renewal (believe it or not, such is the state of CBS scripted ratings), and so the cancellation bear is moving his current prediction for the show up a notch to "likely to be renewed".

With its recent ratings declines, the bear's moving The Crazy Ones prediction down to "likely to be renewed". No headline for it this week, but perhaps next week.

The one thing the bear's certain of is that there will be more changes to his CBS sitcom predictions as the season moves ahead. Stay tuned.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Do you think CBS will Hostages will air all its episodes this season or will they remove it from the schedule??

  • Marc

If Michael J Fox and The Crazy ones both get cancelled, that doesn’t play well for those “stand out stars” getting their own shows.

  • k:Alex

It’s an important week for The Millers.
If it could go up too 2.8 again or something, maybe it’s safe, but I still think they will cancel it, now Mom seems stronger.

  • Jeff (Canada)

I can see CBS renewing The Good Wife for a final season and canceling The Mentalist. Sunday nights next year will be very interesting, especially with The Amazing Race getting lower and lower ratings each season.

I’m glad that HIMYM is going out while maintaining above-average ratings, they’re going out on their own terms.

  • Dollface

I actually like mom it is funny.

  • Russ

I know Elementary is in a decent position and probably relatively safe, but I really wish it were at least ahead of CSI in the ratings. It makes me nervous seeing it in the position it’s in.

  • joel

Quite embarrassing for the Bubble Watch guy, who has been having Mom’s funeral precession for over a month.

  • Fake Me Out

Stars talk and sometimes say stuff taken out of context. Stars sign production deals without their shows ending. But sometimes the small chatter points to something going on and with Alex yakking and Daniel dealing I say something is up with H50. No next season? Short next season to tumble past 100? Or nothing more than idle thoughts and wheelin’ ‘n dealin’? Time will tell but keep an eye out for more signs the end is nigh.

i like hostages but if its cancellation gets me a final season of the good wife, goodbye hostages!

@jonay – its almost done. if anything, i see just burning through it in december to have the spot primed for something new in january.

i don’t think crazy ones has to worry. and i’m happy for mom, one of the funniest (though last night’s started as fairly not funny) new comedies, certainly the funniest on cbs.

  • Ultima

Do you think CBS will Hostages will air all its episodes this season or will they remove it from the schedule?

If CBS was going to pull Hostages, they would have done it already.

  • Nope

  • Wright

NCIS, NCIS:LA, Criminal Minds and Elementary should be renewed. Too bad about Hostages…it’s a good show.

  • Dan S

Like the MJF Show Crazy Ones just isn’t clicking with me. If its ratings from last week is any indicator it’ll likely not be renewed for a 2nd season. Hopefully Bad Teacher will be better whenever that premieres. Elementary has fallen hard & I’d have that at a tossup at this point. Its no wonder CBS finds themselves in 3rd place at this point.

  • Bill Gorman

“Quite embarrassing for the Bubble Watch guy, who has been having Mom’s funeral precession for over a month.”

I don’t see it that way. Tom could easily be right. As noted, I view all my current CBS sitcom predictions as quite fluid at this point.

  • Scandalicious

So sad to see The Crazy Ones adjusted down :( but I agree… Hopefully with a new Big Bang it can rise again! I wish CBS would swap The Millers and TCO.

I am getting more and more hopeful for the Good Wife as the weeks go on. The quality of the show is so high and I really think that word of mouth is starting to spread and people are jumping (back) on board with the show!

  • Feedback

On that note, how come Tom has been doing it? Where’s Robert??

Really like the picture! Ranks up there with Jim Beam Honey.

Nice to see THE GOOD WIFE improving & (better still) tied w/ H50.

    Go Alicia!

Cancelling The Millers and putting Mom in it’s place on Thursdays after Big Bang Theory would make me happy.

  • shogun

I really do think 2.5 men has a strong chance of being cancelled this year, considering how much it must cost to make.

  • Cardo Rámon

Well, ‘Mom’ went from being likely to be cancelled to likely to be renewed.

Gotta stop trusting you and just wait and see. =)
