FOX VISITS “BORDERTOWN” WITH 13-EPISODE ORDER

New Animated Comedy from Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane to

Debut During 2014-2015 Season

FOX has picked up BORDERTOWN, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S.-Mexico border, it was announced by Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

From Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy), BORDERTOWN will take a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring throughout America. Set in a fictitious desert town near the Mexico border, the series centers on the intertwining daily lives of two neighbors: BUD BUCKWALD and ERNESTO GONZALES. Married and a father of three, Bud is a Border Patrol agent who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood. Living next door to Bud is Ernesto, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross, their families become bound by friendship, romance and conflict.

The animated comedy is expected to debut during the 2014-2015 season.

BORDERTOWN is created and written by Mark Hentemann (Family Guy). Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) serve as executive producers. Alex Carter (Family Guy) and Dan Vebber (American Dad, “Futurama”) serve as co-executive producers. The series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

So Fox will basically be the Seth MacFarlane channel soon? His style is getting old.

  • bluelp85

Wonder what animal will be talking in this one. My bet is on a desert horned lizard named Luis.

  • Roberto Severino

I already have a bad feeling about this. We don’t need any more Seth MacFarlane shows and it sucks that American Dad has been treated so poorly by FOX. If they’re gonna do something like this, they at least need to animate it in a different style. Anything but the same damn family shows.

I guess Seth needs to take up at least 2 spots every season on Sunday…

  • Dan

Well here’s the American Dad replacement now for midseason. If Dads gets a second season it’s likely to end up airing at 9:30 Sundays for the first half of the season and 7:30 midseason.

@Ginger – “So Fox will basically be the Seth MacFarlane channel soon? His style is getting old.”

No… American Dad is moving to TBS after this season, The Cleveland Show is gone, and Dads will likely be gone by May. So Seth MacFarlane will have two shows next year: Family Guy and this.

  • JSunkist

Hey, maybe this one will be watching it. No part of the title indicates a male father/husband leader. American DAD, Family GUY, The CLEVELAND Show. DADS

  • JSunkist

    *worth* watching.

This may be interesting. Unfortunately, in today’s TV landscape, I think issues involving immigration and other racial issues shown on TV may be better accepted in cartoon format. If Dads is picked up for a second season and placed on Sunday night, then this animated show will likely debut during midseason and placed after The Simpsons, with Bob’s Burger then airing at 7:30pm after Football is over.

Like American Dad, the first season is boring, but the only thing I like are American dad, Simpsons and Southpark.
Family Guy get lame, maybe when Meg is gone, the writers get a new “impulse of comedy”.

  • Cam

Seth MacFarlane must be a part owner of FOX.

Not one part of this comment makes any sense whatsoever.

Sounds like another PC type.of show. Boring! Seth sux

  • tv#1

I love Seth. If he is behind this I definitely want to check it out.

  • Q

That’s just what the world needs. Another Seth MacFarlane show.

  • Aaron

Seth Probably won’t have anything to do with the show past the pilot.

  • Luke

Don’t know what people’s problem is with Seth, yeah, he lived off Family Guy, but come on. It is probably the only show, minus Futurama, that got picked up twice. Yeah, it ‘might have’ live passed it’s prime, but it is still funny and obviously still getting the ratings FOX wants. No-one moans about The Simpsons that has been going for 25 years. So cut Seth a little slack here and realize that if the exec’s at FOX didn’t think it would go, then they wouldn’t pick it up.

Anyway, Dads isn’t going to live past this season, unfortunately, because I think it is quite a funny show. American Dad moving is a shame, but I guess this allows FOX to pick up this show and not overdo the Seth McFarline shows.

  • Gabi

Guys, MacFarlane is just an EP, Hentemann is the creator. Don’t you read anymore? The design isn’t MacFarlane’s style either, it’s similar to series 3 South Hentemann created years back. Certainly, MacFarlane has his input etc., but come on don’t credit/blame him for everything.
