The Walking Dead continues to  dominate Sunday television. Sunday night's episode delivered 12.2 million viewers and 7.9 million adults 18-49 for a 6.2 adults 18-49 rating. However, though it outperformed every other non-sports television program by a significant margin, it did decline 9 percent from last week's 6.8.

    AMAZING!!!

  • Jack

    What was last weeks? 6.4?

  • Bored Now

And well deserved. That was an amazing episode. First one this season that I knew I’d want to watch again before next week.

  • j

    Why the decline? Hmm.

  • gerry

still an amazing rating. i was wondering about the episode for the first 15 minutes or so, you know, before all @*%# broke loose. good stuff last night.

  • BxActor

    Amazing

  • Charmed

    Flop!
Lol kidding, but it is dropping

  • Aracoma

Yes, it does continue to drop, I wonder why? Though, that 6.2 rating is still #1 for scripted television. When will the Walking Dead rating stabilize is what I want to know.

  • AlanHalliwell

That is still higher than any other Episode Hit in Previous seasons

  • Targaryen

top3 shows of CBS not even close to 1 episode ratings of TWD

  • jose

againts the football is super rating but the fans miss carol & the gobernator

  • k:Alex

Next week will be up, The Governor will be back :D

  • Mark

So it has done an 8.2, 7.1, 6.8, 6.8,6.2 this season. These are all better than it had ever previously done against Football. I imagine it will do better next week, but we’ll have to wait and see.

  • Scandalfan

Last week it was 6.8, that’s an important drop in the important demo but it is going to go up next week with the Governor’s return. The last 30 minutes of Last night’s episode was really captivating.

Hope the show keeps getting 8s in the spring to make up for the dip.

I would say that the early ratings this season were very inflated. I don’t know how much lower they might go (if next week is all Governor that might not help – he’s annoying and somewhat dull), but 6.0 might be about where they’d be from now on, maybe a little lower. One of the problems is if every scene of every episode isn’t brawling and zombie kills, people cry, “Boring!!” and that is the word of mouth you get.

This episode was one of the most exciting of any of the seasons, but after all the fans who cried, “Boring! This virus story is so dull, who cares!!!” I’m not that surprised some people didn’t bother to tune in.

The return of the Governor will boost the ratings next week. Still amazing numbers though.

    Next week’s episode: 6.6

  • Aracoma

    @jose
I think that fans, especially women, were pissed that Carol was banished from the group. I think they’re are responsible for the drop in viewers/rating from episode 4 to 5.

  • Mark

Next week it is against a huge undefeated Chiefs vs one loss Broncos team. It should still do fine though. Last fall the shows demo ranged from a high of 5.8 to twice being at 4.9. So far this fall the range is 8.2 to 6.2. Personally, I think the show is better this year but it has focused more on characters and story than nonstop action.

  • Carl

I’m not sure one character going would cause half a million viewers to leave.
