Nikita final season

The CW didn't surprise the cancellation bear yesterday with its full season pickups of Tomorrow People, Reign and The Originals. Fans of the former two shouldn't get too confident. The CW picked up full seasons of Ringer and The Secret Circle in Fall, 2011, and the bear caught them in May, 2012.

The lack of new episodes ordered this season for The Carrie Diaries either marks it as defacto canceled and playing out the string, similar to  Life Unexpected in 2010, or  certain to be canceled, depending on which version of its situation you believe.

Only 13 episodes were ordered for The Carrie Diaries this season, putting it in the same "spring show sophomore" situation as Life Unexpected in 2010. Since no more episodes were ordered yesterday, the bear counts the show as defacto canceled and playing out the string, again, just like Life Unexpected in 2010.

However, after the CW news was out yesterday many messaged the bear claiming that the CW had announced last spring that there would only be 13 episodes of Carrie this season no matter what. If true, the bear missed that announcement, because he certainly would have noted it as nonsensical at the time. It makes no sense for the CBS/WB syndication factory that is the CW to cap veteran shows at 13 episodes/season. But if that is somehow true, yesterday's CW announcement wasn't bad news for the show, just no news for the show, and the bear won't argue with those who'd say the show is simply certain to be canceled in May, instead of already canceled now.

Those who'd like to note "You were wrong last year, you'll be wrong again!" should stick around.

With three seasons complete, the CW syndication gods will demand that Hart Of Dixie be renewed for a fourth season. Maybe it'll be a short one like Nikita's, or maybe not. The bear doesn't get into predicting episode orders.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

This all started with Super Fun Night….. TCD isn’t cancelled!

  • Charmed

This site is losing it’s credibility……

  • M

Your doing the same thing you did last year with smash! Why can’t you just put certain to be cancelled instead of cancelled until they make a formal announcement… Geesh

  • Dillan

    lol TCD isn’t cancelled..

  • Charmed

    When did everyone become psychic?

  • Alessio

<> this comes from a May 16 2013 press release after the upfronts.

I never write but I always read. Also I think Reign has more possibilty of coming back than TTP, at least reign does good in ratings and doesnt drop every week –but who knows after the back nine order

  • Bill Gorman

“Why can’t you just put certain to be cancelled instead of cancelled until they make a formal announcement”

13 episodes ordered, and no more ordered for Spring, is as much of an announcement as you’re going to get.

  • Alessio

idk why it doesnt show up but i’ll rewrite again lol
“”The Carrie Diaries” will be back with 13 for now. “We ran it for 13 [last season],” he said about the latter. “We may or may not go more than 13 this cycle.””

  • Dillan

Just because no more is ordered for spring doesn’t mean that they won’t want to renew it again in the fall.

  • M

That’s exactly what you said about smash when they moved it to Saturdays… They still made an announcement that it was cancelled! If TCD is cancelled they will announce it

  • gerry

haha, i was going to say that the bear shouldn’t be too hasty since it was probably its biggest misfire last year.

i’m still hoping they keep it around as 13 eps for spackle. i don’t expect a decision on this until we see how selection/100 do in the spring.

  • julia

why is TCD on The CW listed as canceled but Super Fun Night on ABC isn’t? They didn’t get a back 9 either

  • Brandy

It’s not cancelled yet so it shouldn’t be labeled as such til it leaks that it is if it is.Second,Pedowitz said”we may or may not go past 13 episodes this season. We looked at it last season as a limited series.” deadline even reported that Carrie the 100 are limited series this season.Limited series means no backorder.
Finally, CD is still doing very well online and with BatB flatlining and Reing/TTP only doing soo &we don’t know how Star-Crossed /The 100 will do, so CD has a chance at renwal though a slight one.You should look it up on deadline or google it:CW eyes Carrie Diaries,The 100 for limited runs.
I guess Unde The Dome is canceled too by this thinking ( no back order or partial backorder) right cause it was a limited series with no backorder just 13 episodes.Oh Wait, UTD was Renewed!Did you have Hostages,Betyral marked as cancelled too and OUIWcause they’re also limited series with 13,episodes only no backorderd

  • Ariel

TCD and B&tB both need to be cancelled.
Reign does just as good in the ratings as TTP, so why isn’t it listed as more likely to be renewed?

  • abc

How do the 6 episodes for Nikita help in syndication? It will only be at 72. So Nikita NOT getting a full 4th season kind of disproves that every 3-full-season-show gets another season for sure because of the syndication gods.

66 or 72 episodes for Nikita don’t matter at all for syndication so the 6 episodes are acutally really just to wrap it up. The syndication gods would have asked for a full 4th season to get it to the magical 88 episodes…at least that has always been your reasoning for the last couple of years…

  • Alessio

By the same kind of thinking beauty and the beast should at least be labeled as certain to be canceled cause no matter how much pedowitz loves the show is doing far worse than carrie in ratings (women, even men, whatever), and carrie is on friday so at least it has that excuse on its part

  • Brandy

Oh and Sleepy Hallow must be cancelled too , right cause it didn’t get a backorder either.oh Wait that’s Renewdd too!Shows that are limited series, which Carrie is by official announcement from CW of it not getting more than 13 episodes this season, ,aren’t atomically cancelled! You guys were wrong about Nikita two years ago and were wrong about Carrie last season.

  • M

Oh you mean news articles like the ones on this terrible site… Wow you really are losing credibility…. People wouldn’t be able to write articles about shows being cancelled unless a network says so… So maybe it wasn’t a big deal because it was predictable but at some point NBC said Smash was cancelled… If any network didn’t announce cancellations we would be waiting all year to see if a show just happens to pop up on tv

  • Scandalicious

I would bet that TCD has been cancelled. I agree with the Bear’s statement that it really doesn’t make sense for The CW to cap a veteran show at 13 eps if they have a hope for the show reaching syndication.

The CW now has a very full schedule. With all the full season pickups and two new midseason comedies to premiere the competition is really going to heat up. I feel like they are going to had to sacrifice some shows on Monday nights. No way will they mess with the great thing they have going on Tuesday nights with SPN and The Originals. I would guess that they will leave HOD and premiere Star Crossed on Mondays as The 100 looks to have more potential. I am still not sure where they will premiere The 100. Maybe behind TVD with Reign getting shipped to Fridays?

  • Candy

Why are people being bitch babies about the site and it’s credibility? I’m pretty sure it’s prediction accuracy is atleast 80%. You disagree with the prediction, that’s fine too, it doesn’t justify acting like an immature brat.
