It seemed like just yesterday that Dracula premiered with a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating, on Friday, on NBC. Fan hopes were justifiably high, as was the cancellation bear's initial prediction.

After losing half that 18-49 audience in just two weeks, last week's 0.9 rating now makes Dracula "likely to be canceled".

Why not certain to be canceled? The bear's swing and a miss on Hannibal last season gives the bear a bit of a pause. Plus, he may need another headline later this season.

The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.
*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I love Dracula !!! Im enjoying every episode :)

@Chris J – Well in terms of Parenthood, that show could very well get a final 13 episode season of NBC is being generous.

@Omabin – Thats Good enough, I’m still curious to see NBC’s midseason schedule regarding premiere dates for the comedies and if The Blacklist will be split also. Also I checked the Futoncritic and with Sound of Music (Nov 27), Xmas in Rockefeller Center (Dec 4), and Sing Off (Dec 11) that means only 9 episodes of Revolution airing through Nov 20.

So with 13 episodes of Revolution from Jan-May that could mean less repeats. Or if NBC decides to scrap the 3 January airings, they could air the show repeat free March 5-May 28. Also I wonder how Olympics will effect SVU or Chicago PD.

I love Dracula. I hope it’s changed to a better time slot. The target audience between 18-40’s for Friday night is not helping. Late night showing on Friday might. Gosh! Almost everyone at that age group are out and partying.

None of this takes into account the 67% bounce Dracula gets when DVR viewing is added in. it just shows that if NBC doesn’t take that into consideration then they are even bigger fools than what I previously thought. The show needs work, but JRM is an awesome and phenomenal talent, and I find the storyline interesting. And as a true Stoker fan, I accept that they had to do something to bring this to serialized Tv. Plus, I also like the steam-punk visage. It’s probably out of place on broadcast TV, though.

Community has a shot at being the #1 comedy of the network.. Seems like a strong possibility that nbc won’t renew 1 comedy series this year

So, NBC Mid-season will be so far:

    8:00 The Sing-Off / The Voice
    10:00 The Blacklist

    8:00 The Sing-Off / The Voice
    9:00 About a Boy
    9:30 The Family Guide
    10:00 Chicago Fire

    8:00 Revolution
    9:00 L&O: SVU
    10:00 Chicago PD
———————- I don’t think they will change any of those days
    8:00 Community
    8:30 Parks&Rec
    9:00 ??
    10:00 Parenthood

Why should NBC move some of their Sunday Drama too Thursdays?
In 2004 they had the same problem with the 9PM slot and started The Apprentice.

    They still have:
    The Night Shift

    Food Fighters
    American Dream Builders

No need to worry, they only must make a make as soon as possible. (?)

  • k:Alex

    I mean ‘Why should’t NBC’

  • The dude who’s commenting

This is what nbc should do for mid season

    8 the voice
    10 the blacklist
(Keep this the same. It’s doing fantastic already.)
    8 Parks and recreation
    8:30 community
    9 the voice
    10 chicago fire
(Put parks and rec and communtiy here to anchor the night and stay away from cbs Thursday comedies. Put the voice at 9 to anchor chicago fire)
    8 about a boy
    8:30 growing up fisher
    9 Sean saves the world
    9:30 michael j fox show
    10 parenthood
(Get rid of must see tv. Clearly nbc comedies are just not working there and is being dominated by BBT. move the comedies to Wednesday and make it a family night.)
    8 chicago pd
    9 Svu
    10 revolution
(Revolution is doing okay leading the night but i think it will do better at 10 with the help of SUV and the show isn’t meant for 8.
    8 Dateline
    9 grimm
    10 dracula/crossbones/Hannibal
(Friday is doing great and should continue being a type of supernatural, scary night)
    8 American dream builders
    9 believe
    10 crisis
(This night would be fine due to ratings from revenge, the good wife and the mentalist.)

If Dracula has any issue its Oil vs Magnetic Energy aspect of the story.

In my opinion there were many ways that Dracula could have battled Order other then trying to create an alternative energy source.

  • Mia

The first episode sucked,(pun intended) it was boring, but stayed with it and 2,3 and 4 have taken off for me, I’m addicted now…JRM is such a phenomenal talent.

  • JaneT

I really hope Dracula go UP! I love that show. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is perfect actor.

  • Kate

I really hope Dracula isn’t cancelled, I actually really like it. It’s one of my new favorite shows, I don’t understand why people are complaining about it. I guess people don’t like smart fantasy/horror shows.

  • Irene

I watched Dracula today. All the episodes at once. I liked it. I also don’t know if I would have liked it is I watched one episode a week. I find that with a lot of shows.

  • bel

@JosephA you not getting it. it was chosen because it was the connection of lighting up the night

  • MUSCLE13

Why in the world doesn’t NBC put a decent reality show on Thursdays? Reality is the way to counter The Big Bang Theory, not family comedies. Give people a reality option and I am not talking moving the Voice. I would consider Biggest Loser this year and Space Race next year. They could even move America’s Got Talent from summer. Any good reality. But to fight Big Bang with comedy seems like such a foolish strategy to me.

Moving Revolution to Friday nights would be a death sentence for the show since it’s already struggling in it’s current time slot. Maybe Thursday’s but definitely not Friday’s. Shows that get moved to Fridays need to have a real strong fan base to survive. Hawaii Five-O a great show with an established fan base struggled for a bit on Fridays but seems to be gaining traction again. NBC has some serious decisions to make soon about some of their shows. I’m happy to see The Blacklist and Chicago Fire doing well. Both are excellent shows.

  • Janiekat

I like the premise of Dracula and Revolution. But the writers drag too long on the hooks of the show instead of resolving plots within the main story script. It’s not good to milk the hook for too long because audiences get tired of waiting!! (why did the lights go out?!!!!) Script writers for the Living Dead have stories within the story and they do come to an end and that equals audiences and great numbers. I’d say hire creative writers, don’t think a name will save you, even a well, well known name like Dracula. I will still watch though. I love the main actor.

  • JD

Revolution = fake apocalypse. Just like Falling Skies, Terra Nova, etc. It’s a goner.

  • KP_Dallas

I’m glad they didn’t make Dracula into a teeny bop show. I like it, i think the plot is good (actually has one) and costume, etc are well done. I do agree about the american accent, however..
