- Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports. Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent. Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.) Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast. For more information see Numbers 101 and Numbers 102.

I suspect that once more, ESPN’s “NFL Monday Night Football” probably topped the night in total viewers and key demographics.

It’s my guess that thanks to the Bullygate scandal involving the Miami Dolphins, the game probably drew 2-3 million more viewers than it 09toherwise should have, and might have drawn about 15 million viewers.

So Bones is (typically) behind The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Sleepy Hollow. This past week (and often in the past) it has been in the ballpark with New Girl, but clearly behind it in regards to the demos Fox cares about the most (the demos that earn New Girl nearly twice as much as Bones in adrates).

Don’t let the numbers fool you. Fox is in the business of making money. The Simpsons, Family Guy, New Girl, and even The Mindy Project are pulling in significantly higher than average adrates from key demos. Sleepy Hollow, despite being in a really tough timeslot, will likely get a raise next year, too. And again, they’ve got The Following and 24 waiting in the wings. Fox is just trying to get a little more of that $$$ demo at 8 o’clock on Mondays than Bones is bringing right now (you can literally ignore the 7 mill viewers, BTW), and looking to establish a show that will be around longer than Bones will. In the meantime, your procedural is safe, and will be back next year. So no worries. Just watch it on Friday or DVR it.

I don’t think Castle fans are worried about renewal given what is happening with ABC’s Freshman dramas and the collapse of Revenge and Nashville.

What I seen expressed in the Castle forums is a growing dissatisfaction with the way TPTB have handled the new Caskett relationship and the lack of time devoted to this relationship over the last four weeks. People are saying that since becoming engage the passion behind Castle and Beckett is largely absent, and the show is now trying to develop its secondary characters at the expense of the leads.

What they feared is that this ratings deep might be the first signs people are finally tiring of a relationship that for the most part this season has been hidden behind subtext. Seriously Castle and Beckett are engage and they barely kiss, touch hands, or flirt withe each other now..

So glad for Sleepy Hollow, solid numbers against tough competition and a really good episode. LOL at the scene where he accidentally brought up the porn site on the computer.

Castle should ends it run, very mediocre episode and it should be put to rest.

ABC need to find a quick fix for Monday , DWTS is falling apart , send it to Tuesday or Friday

  • Michelle

DWTS is not helped by the fact that younger celebrities who are better dancers are biting the dust to older celebrities who are more “popular” with the demo watching the show and voting. The demo is afraid to consider voting for someone who they don’t really recognize from other shows or movies or whatever, and stick with what’s familiar, even if that person’s dancing is inferior. Just another reason why advertisers ignore this crowd. They just won’t be able to change their minds, no matter what!

@Coacoav “What Reddington did on the Blacklist was a mercy killing.”

Perhaps, but he denied both Sam and Lizzie the chance to meet one last time in person and say their goodbyes. That was not nice. Red wanted to protect the lie so much that it overrode everything. It was especially horrible for Lizzie who hadn’t even known that her father was so critically ill.

  • Dave from Minnesota

The only reason I am watching Hostages is because it will make the Premier of 24 even seem better!!! It is terrible and predictable but what the heck I watched the first three shows so I continued. I am dumb and would have probably watched more of Lucky 7. That show was better than this show and it was cancelled.

    @Michelle

I feel your pain. Some know-it-all a**wipes on here love to criticize shows that they’ve never even seen… just to feel superior to everyone else. Jeez, these people need to GET JOBS and stop being asses here every day.

I think Reign is a good show too. My 11 year old and I watch it together and I don’t care how accurate or inaccurate it is. Most people under 30 now don’t know history very well, anyway. They believe everything they see on NBC… that’s why our country is a mess right now. Don’t get me started on what our schools AREN’T teaching our kids…

Anyway, obviously, the CW thought Reign was stable enough to give it a full season order and that right there should tell you all you need to know.

  • Billiam

    @Coacoav

Spader is SO GOOD at being a bad guy!!!

His acting from the movie Mannequin and now is like night and day. So much better, it can’t be compared…

“I am sorry madam. I am espoused to another.”

    :-) ;-)

  • hmm

    @ Shane G.

Castle has at least another season left, ABC has much bigger problems than a show that is consistently steady, and doing better in the demo than other dramas.
And every show has filler “medicore” episodes.

Mom is LOL funny. Unfortunately, it’s never had sample. It might be worth a shot to swap it with the Millers and see what happens. It needs a lead-in.

Apparently it’s more profitable for FOX to anger a bunch of fans and move their favorite show that gets good ratings to Friday rather than move shows nobody watches to the Friday death slots.

  • JD

    Diego

That’s interesting. Not sure putting Bones up agains the procedural of all procedurals would be a great idea, but if the fanbase is as loyal as they think, might work. The Mindy Project absolutely bleeds away New Girl’s audience, so Brooklyn 99 could put a band-aid on that a bit.

  • Brian

CW is killing BATB on this horrible new day and the horrible lead in..Idiots!

“Castle should end its run, very mediocre episode…”

No, it shouldn´t, and no, it wasn´t!

So, this is basically the typical Bones fan?

    “Do you like Bones?”

“Oh yeah, I’m a really loyal viewer!!”

“Will you watch it on Fridays?”

    “No, I don’t like it that much…”

Friday night isn’t a death sentence, it’s just a good place to put underperforming shows (and a bad place to put new shows). There’s no reason an established show can’t do decently on Friday nights though (just look at Shark Tank!).
