Last Comic Standing

NBC is reviving stand-up comic reality competition Last Comic Standing. Variety reports that production has began on the eighth season of the show which last aired in 2010.  The show premiered in 2003. Over the course of its history, it has been canceled, revived and moved to Comedy Central.

NBC is just full of ideas today.

  • Carl

Is this also starring Octavia Spencer?

  • Sharkey

Murder She Wrote, Ironside, Voice clip show instead of Blacklist, Last Comic Standing, does NBC have a substance abuse problem?

  • pete5125

Very cheap does at least as good as anything airing in their thur. night slot….my guess would be Thur 8PM for May sweeps finishing in the Summer, only cost involved would be getting David Spade or Ellen DeGeneres to host

  • Chris J

So maybe NBC is planning on pairing this with Maya Rudolph’s show on Thursdays instead of scripted comedies?

  • baja7475

Cool. I liked this show, didn’t agree with of the judges but a lot of good jokes.

  • Dan

This show always gets axed and then comes back. NBC should just not officially cancel it if they don’t want to bring it back. Just put it on hiatus.

  • CBSviewer

ABC should do the same thing with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and air it on Thursday at 8.

  • JSunkist

@pete5125 — great ideas for host choices!

@CBSviewer — I’d like that, too, haven’t heard much in the whole ‘specials’ thing since last year.

I don’t know this show, what is it ? A kind of Whose Line Is It Anyway ?

  • TBFL

More like an American Idol for Comedy…but Greg Proops would be a good host.

  • Erwan From France

@TBFL ok, thanks :) I love American Idol ! So I might be watching this one

  • AllOfHerTw!st

    ha ha

  • Jay

Hopefully it’s good like the first seasons and not like the terrible last two seasons.

  • jay

i hope they go back to the original format (like big brother or survivor)with a house and challenges and immunity and it isn’t just a straight competition like idol or x factor this time around…

  • Jagger Dagger

Agreed. The format for the first few seasons was a lot better.

Oh, and I know I’m funnier than Dat Phan.

  • Rebecca

    Everybody’s funnier than Dat Phan.
I loved this show; glad it’ll be back. Will it air in the summer?
