"TITULARES TELEMUNDO" HAS AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH SALVADOR CABAÑAS ABOUT HIS LIFE BEFORE AND AFTER SOCCER THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT 11PM ET/10C
The former professional soccer player opened up to Sammy Sadovnik about being forced to retire and start a new life in his native Paraguay after being shot in the head in 2010
"I talked to God...He told me 'It's not your time yet, son, to come here' ", said Cabañas
MIAMI – November 13, 2013- Deportes Telemundo traveled all the way to Itaugua, Paraguay, birthplace of Salvador Cabañas, to talk to the former Club America and Paraguay National Team superstar that saw his career come to an end in a sudden and tragic fashion when he was shot in the head by a stranger in the bathroom of a bar in Mexico City on January 25, 2010. Cabañas opened up to Sammy Sadovnik in a two part exclusive that airs on "Titulares Telemundo" this Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 at 11PM/10C about his humble roots, his success as a soccer player and the events that transpired that fateful night.
"I talked to God...He told me 'It's not your time yet, son, to come here' ", said Cabañas.
As a result of that incident, “The Sheriff”, as he was commonly known in the world of sports, still has the bullet lodged in his brain. However, Cabañas has recovered enough to have a normal life and even play soccer again. Deportes Telemundo spent multiple days with Cabañas to get to know him as he is today, living with his parents and working at the family bakery after losing most of the money he earned as a profesional soccer player at the hands of his agent.
A tragic, yet uplifting story full of hope. This Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 at 11PM/10C on "Titulares Telemundo".
