Parks and Recreation returns to NBC tonight, with two back-to-back episodes, after a month off. The critically acclaimed comedy with a passionate fanbase has never been a strong ratings performer. This season, as NBC's Thursday night has imploded, it has declined further. Its most recent episode, on October 17 delivered a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. Has absence made the hearts of Parks and Rec fans grow fonder, or has the time off further eroded the show's audience? Make your predictions for the show's 8PM episode.

  • Jeff (Canada)

I’ll say 1.5. The allure of 2 back-to-back episodes will get some viewers back.

  • Jeff (Canada)

I’ll also go as far to say that the 8:30 episode will rate BETTER than the 8pm episode.

  • K

1.4 It is going up against BBT and The Millers

  • Hobbitual

1.4. A few more people will tune in tonight, but not too many more.

  • glen

Just my prediction: It may average a 1.3, and that might be the highest of the NBC comedies tonight. Safe to say that Sean saves the World and MJ Fox show will be down again, maybe in the 1.1 to 1.2 range, with no “the Voice” lead-in.

I think Parks and Rec will pick up right where it left off and get a 1.3 and 1.4

    ABC:Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 1.0, Grey’s Anatomy 2.7, Scandal 3.0

CBS: The Big Bang Theory 4.8, The Millers 2.5, The Crazy Ones 2.2, Two and a Half Men 2., Elementary 1.8

    FOX: The X Factor 1.4, Glee 1.6

NBC: Parks and Rec 1.3, Parks and Rec 1.4, Sean Saves the World 1.1, Michael J Fox 1.1,, Parenthood 1.3

    I’ll say 1.4 but it deserves 3.0

Does anyone remember that episode of “The Millers” where Will Arnett’s character complained about how his ex-wife was so good at bantering that she was destroying his lead-in? I’m guessing that her character was not based on Arnett’s real-life ex-wife, Amy Poehler. Assuming that Jim Parsons appears in tonight’s episode of “The Big Bang Theory”, P&R will be lucky to get a 1.3.

I predict that Aziz Ansari will shout in a loud monotone, Aubry Plaza will roll her eyes at the camera, and Chris Pratt will say something stupid. There, now no one needs to watch.

  • John A

1.1-1.2. It wont beat The Voice repeats that aired in that slot anyway.

  • Rebecca

My favorite show but I can never watch it live since the household records and watches TBBT the same night. Hoping it does well, though.

You could say the same thing for almost every sitcom on TV right now.

  • Mike

Yeah… pretty sure you oversimplify literally any show on TV. You proved nothing.

  • k:Alex

It would be nice if those viewers of last week continue too watch Sean saves the World, so the night isn’t that horrible

    P&R 1.3
    P&R 1.5 (I’m happy today)
    Sean 1.3
    MJ 1.1
    Parent 1.3

I’m not sure I follow. Are all sitcom stars recently divorced? Do all sitcoms have characters who are angry for no reason? Do all sitcoms have mind-bogglingly stupid characters who start businesses with no idea how to earn revenue? Do all sitcoms have characters who don’t understand the concept of paying bills or picking up after themselves? Frankly, I’m kind of tired of people coddling P&R. It gets low ratings for a reason, mainly because too many of it’s characters are so annoying that people change the channel midway through an episode rather than to gouge out their eyes based on how stupid the characters are.

I’m explaining why I can’t make it through an episode. It’s a shame that the only show on TV that talks about issues like obesity, corporate influence on elections, and gay penguin marriage needs to make its characters so stupid, but I guess they’re giving the public what it wants. Or not.
