Last Spring, Raising Hope was renewed for its current, fourth, season, during which it will reach the 88 episode level that seems to be the minimum these days for extra profitable stripped syndication. That doesn't mean that this had to be its final season, were its ratings good, it could have evaded the Cancellation Bear for years. Unfortunately for the show, its fractional premiere ratings on Friday make it certain to be canceled this season.

Almost Human started just fine on Sunday following the late NFL game. An hour of the cancellation bear sleeping could start just fine on Sunday following the late NFL game. Let's see what happens in the coming weeks.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2014

  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Ugh, I wish Almost Human would stay right where it is.

Raising Hope is a good show and deserves to go back to Tuesdays.
It should not be grouped with BONES on Friday…doesn’t make any sense.
But I did like the idea of grouping it with “American Dad” or “Bob’s Burgers”
    …makes way better sense.
I think the Mindy Project is crap.

According to E!, more schedule shifts on the horizon for FOX.

“Glee is making a big move!

E! News has learned that Fox has decided to move Glee back to Tuesday nights at 8 pm this spring. Greg Kinnear’s new dramedy series Rake will be taking the plum Thursday night slot, airing after American Idol.

And dropping off the Tuesday schedule to make room for Glee are two comedies: The Mindy Project and Dads.

Fox’s Tuesday night lineup for spring is as follows:

    8 pm: Glee
    9 pm: New Girl
    9:30 p.m.: Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Glee’s ratings aren’t what they used to be, with its most recent episode pulling in 4.2 million viewers and a 1.4 in the demo. Its highest-rated episode of the season was the Cory Monteith tribute, which attracted 7.4 million viewers and a 2.8 demo rating.”

Why can’t they just let Raising Hope have its regular Tuesday slot? Dads/Mindy are both doing horribly in ratings in that time slot. Why not give Raising Hope a chance???

I didn’t even know Raising Hope was back on the air! Way to promote, Fox. As for Almost Human, lets see what it does next week before we take out the knives and start carving it up. I think it will stay steady and dramatically improve once MNF is gone. It makes a good double feature with “Sleepy Hollow” and both shows are excellent.

I love Raising Hope. It’s one of the most original shows on television, and it has a sweet family message at its heart.

I’ve watched every episode. I usually catch on Hulu.

I’ve never watched an episode of Dads. I could tell from the commercials that it would be dumb.

I also really enjoy The Mindy Project. I see it as more character driven than plot driven, in some ways, similar to Raising Hope. I hope it survives.

I lost interest in The New Girl last season. The raunchy sexual humor got old and the only character I found compelling (and by that I mean least annoying) was Nick. The show was cute for a while, and they had a nice Sam Malone/Diane Chambers, Maddie Hays/David Addison tension between Jess and Nick, and they jumped the shark by having them hook up too soon and in a confused, half-assed, non-committal way. The whole charm of the show, for me, was knowing they were right for one another and hoping they’d discover it. It’s not that I didn’t want them to discover it, just not so soon, and not in such a confused way, where they were still unsure about their feelings.

I adore Raising Hope. I have to admit, though, I hate to see shows I love get worse and drag on for too long. If Raising Hope can have four great seasons, I’ll consider myself lucky to have had it this long, and it can go out while still creative and hilarious. I’d rather it sticks around another two or three years, but at least it’s had a decent run.

Always liked Hope but the scripts have been awful this year.
    Bye.

  • phoebe

raising hope is such a good and genuine show for the whole family. why did Fox have to move it??

  • Kelly D

Please don’t cancel Raising Hope!! I absolutely love it!
