    @GRay

    I share your concern. Do you think it might be useful to produce a reality program highlighting the damage to our national psyche caused by ratings-obsessed television fans? With any luck, the E channel might even consider airing it as a summer replacement for the Kardashians.

    @Bradley: “The Voice needs to go back to a Spring only model. It wouldn’t fluctuate so wildly if it was on once a year.”

    Maybe true, but I presume NBC has weighed the negative effects of airing The Voice twice a season against the negative effect on their schedule that would come from not airing The Voice in the fall and have chosen the latter. Considering what the ratings of their non-Voice and non-football nights look like right now, and what happened last winter when they didn’t have The Voice on, it would have been disastrous for their overall ratings average not to have The Voice on this fall. And The Voice gave The Blacklist a much bigger starting audience than it would have had if it had had to self-start.

  • RJC

    Er, sorry, I mean NBC has chosen the former.

    DWTS at least didn’t fall below 2.0 like Castle

    I watched Almost Human last night. I found it to be entertaining. At least it was much better than S.H.I.E.L.D. I feel Almost Human has something for everyone. In my opinion, it does come off as a buddy cop procedural with a twist. It is set in 2048. So the viewers can be treated to elements of sci-fi. Michael Ealy was really strong in his role. But even though the show incorporates an android, I never felt it truly dove into the science fiction realm enough. I guess it didn’t want to overwhelm viewers who are not into sci-fi. So it plays like a buddy cop procedural with some comedic material in the script.

  • HalCapone

    Is that still a season and series low for The Voice and Sleepy Hollow, respectively?

    @Twist

    Never said Almost Human was a runaway smash. Doubt it will be. But it isn’t the all out failure some (key here, not all, but some) Bones fans are praying to see. I’m not sure what the deal is with Glee, but I know it’s got it’s place in social media, and the Fox prez is big on that. It also gets higher adrates, so perhaps that makes it harder to move? Bottom line, I don’t think trying to launch Almost Human against Greys Anatomy and the wake of Big Bang Theory was a terribly attractive thought. At least not without American Idol. Would Bones do better there than Glee? Who knows. Last season Glee spent a lot of time in the low 2s in that slot, which is where Bones has been all this season. Fox is a net people seem happy to simply DVR.

    I know CBS can’t be happy about Hostages. I think it is the weakest show they have had in the Monday @10pm timeslot in the longest time. I can’t believe it is airing on Monday nights during sweeps. I guess CBS feels they simply have nothing else to air there at this moment. I can understand them wanting viewers to be able to see the conclusion. But I would have moved Hostages to Saturday and put NCIS repeats on until Intelligence took over.

    It’s amazing how The Voice is able to pull off a Monday night win with having only 1 show throughout the 3 hours… I love the show, but please NBC, DON”T OVERPLAY IT! You’re killing the groove of the show.

  • Jon

    The voice should just do 8 weeks of spinning chairs skip all the battle rounds. Have a semi final week and a final week. People like to see spinning chairs all the other fluff is boring.

  • Jon

    If people think 2.3 is low for almost human wait until mid December when it is pulling a 1.2.

  • Jon

    @jenna…tell me again how sleepy hollow as fox highest rated program is on the road to cancellation?

  • greysfan

    And NBC rested The Blacklist because??? Stupid move. I didn’t like the first 2 episodes of Almost Human and i won’t be returning to watch anymore.

  • Chris_SAdvisor

    It would be nice to halve the half-hours on Almost Human. I suspect that many left after the first half. Still, it required an adjustment up to reach this number. I think it will be hitting 1.5 – 1.6 in another four weeks.

    This show is right in line with Bad Robot’s policy of writing their scripts with a grade 3 level of scientific knowledge, and as little continuity as possible. I doubt it will survive more than half a season.

  • Chris_SAdvisor

    @greysfan – The next two episodes of the Blacklist is a two-part pre-break finale. They needed to take a week off (probably production issues) either this week or next, and decided to make it this one so that they could show the two parts back-to-back. They also came off a very strong episode. Taking a break in between would have been more harmful. No one is going to forget to return, especially with the promos that they will be running. ;)

    I haven’t watched almost human yet but those aren’t that bad of numbers. It just can’t fall too much more and needs to stay stable/rise like sleepy hollow.

    CBS saved 2 broke girls. It just need to save the 9-11pm slots. They have to hope HIMYM spin off is good and can sustain the Monday 8pm slot.

  • Networkman

    As this season’s DWTS comes to a close, its viewership is rising. I believe next week is the finale. Where will the 13-14 million viewers that watch DWTS go? More people may try out Almost Human once DWTS is done. FOX will be happy if the show stabilized at 2.3-2.5 demo. I also think CBS comedies will see a slight increase during the next couple months as well.

  • TV-LOG

    Hostage is ruined! Any Body cyber world can recall a show having similar plot of two movies! Hostage coming out during Olympus Has fallen! White House Down! Dylan in Hostage having done Olympus has fallen! If he was hero in Hostage instead doing similar character again! Alert! ABC and CBS came shows similar Raiders of Last Ark! CBS’s show didn’t make! ABC’s show made two seasons!
