The CW Finishes Great Week in Primetime & Continues Year to Year Gains

Season to date, The CW continues to see solid year to year growth in primetime, up +9% in total viewers (2.02M vs. 1.85M), up +11% in A18-49 (0.9/2), up +10% in W18-49 (1.1/3), and remaining flat in A18-34 (0.8/3) and W18-34 (1.0/3) year to year in most current Nielsen ratings.

 

Season to date digital viewing of The CW’s shows also continues huge growth versus last season, with total streaming up +56% versus last year, and mobile viewing of full episodes alone growing +194% in one year.

 

Some CW ratings highlights from the week of 11/11-11/17:

 

TUESDAY:

Following the full season pickup of THE ORIGINALS, the series had its most-watched episode of the season (2.4M), and helped to give The CW its most-watched Tuesday night in more than four years (2.38M, since 9/8/09), in Live + Same Day ratings. THE ORIGINALS matched its season highs in A18-49 (1.1/3), and W18-34 (1.5/4), hit a new season high in W18-49 (1.6/4), and tied its second best number of the season in A18-34 (1.0/3).

 

SUPERNATURAL had its second most-watched episode of the season last week (2.36M) and gained week to week in all key demos, rising +11% in A18-34 (1.0/3), +22% in A18-49 (1.1/3), +20% in W18-34 (1.2/4), and +10% in total viewers.

 

Week to week, The CW’s Tuesday night was up +22% in A18-49 (1.1/3), +11% in A18-34 (1.0/3), +27% in W18-34 (1.4/4), and up +14% in total viewers (2.38M).

 

WEDNESDAY:

Last week’s ARROW hit series highs in A18-34 (1.1/4 – tie), and M18-34 (1.4/5), and reached season highs in total viewers (3.1M) and A18-49 (1.2/3). ARROW was #1 in M18-34 at 8pm, and delivered The CW’s best time period performance in M18-34 in five years (10/2008).

 

ARROW gained +22% week to week in A18-34, +56% in M18-34, +20% in A18-49, +27% in M18-49 (1.4/4), and +11% in total viewers.

 

THE TOMORROW PEOPLE also gained week to week, rising +6% in total viewers (1.65M), and holding steady in A18-34 (0.5/2) and A18-49 (0.6/2).

 

Week to week, The CW’s Wednesday night was up +9% in total viewers (2.37M), +14% in A18-34 (0.8/3), +13% in A18-49 (0.9/3), and +25% in M18-34 (1.0/4).

 

THURSDAY:

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES continued to bare its fangs, ranking #2 for the 8pm hour in A18-34 (1.3/5) and in W18-34 (2.0/6), beating ABC, NBC, and Fox. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES also tied for #2 in the hour with X Factor in A18-49 (1.3/4). It’s the third week in a row that THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has outrated X Factor in A18-34, and the second straight week that it has outrated Once Upon A Time in Wonderland in both A18-34 and A18-49.

 

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES was up +5% week to week in total viewers (2.72M), and was steady week to week in A18-49 (1.3/4) and in W18-49 (1.7/5).

 

REIGN also rose for the third straight week in total viewers (1.69M) and also rose +17% in A18-49 (0.7/2).

 

Week to week, The CW’s Thursday night was up +11% in A18-49 (1.0/3) and up +4% in total viewers (2.2M).
