ABC's Tuesday Hits 8-Week Highs

ABC Tuesday Prime (8-11pm – 6.9 million and 2.3/6 in AD18-49): ABC took second place in Adults 18-49 (2.3/6 - tied w/NBC), while winning the night in Adults 18-34 and key Men (M18-34/M18-49).

 

·         In viewers and young adults, the Net earned its strongest performance on the night in 8 weeks – since season premiere Tuesday on 9/24/13.

 

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (8-9pm – 6.8 million and 2.3/7 in AD18-49): At 8pm, ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. grew week to week in Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 18-49 (+5%).  The freshman ABC drama earned a strong second in the hour in Adults 18-49 to CBS’ top-rated NCIS, leading by strong margins over NBC’s Biggest Loser (+28% - 1.8/5) and Fox’s comedies (+64% over Dads/Brooklyn 9-9 = 1.4/4).   The new ABC drama was the #1 series in the hour with Men 18-34 for its 8th straight original telecast and was once again Tuesday’s #1 TV show with Men 18-49.

 

The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm – 5.1 million and 1.6/4 in AD18-49):

In the 9pm half-hour, ABC freshman The Goldbergs oudrew Fox’s New Girl (3.3 million and 1.7/5) by 1.8 million viewers and paced within 1-tenth of the veteran comedy in Adults 18-49 to stand as Tuesday’s most-watched comedy overall for the 9th consecutive weekThe Goldbergs grew its overall audience for the 2nd week in a row.

 

·         The Goldbergs posted strong year-to-year improvement in the slot, growing the half-hour by 16% in Total Viewers and 45% in Adults 18-49 over Happy Endings on the year-ago night (4.4 million and 1.1/3 on 11/20/12).

 

David Blaine: Real or Magic (9:30-11pm – 7.6 million and 2.5/7 in AD18-49):

From 9:30-11pm, ABC’s special David Blaine: Real or Magic took first place in its time period with Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34.  In fact among Adults 18-49 from 10-11pm, David Blaine (2.6/7) beat out  CBS’ Person Of Interest by 30% (2.0/6) and NBC’s The Voice-boosted Chicago Fire by 37% (1.9/5).

 

·         In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, David Blaine: Real or Magic delivered season-highs for ABC in the 90-minute time period.

    If ABC is content with The Goldbergs ratings on Tues I’m cool with that. Assuming its good enough to warrant a 2nd season. At least it’s doing much better than Happy Endings was doing last year.
