Each year, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons one or more turkeys from becoming part of the national Thanksgiving dinner. Now you can play the part of the President, and choose which ABC ratings turkeys you'd spare from consumption by the cancellation bear. The big difference being, the turkeys that the President spares actually get to live, your choices (like every internet poll) are just for meaningless fun.

Every scripted show currently on the air for ABC is in the poll.

As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

“Why is Super Fun Night certain to be canceled, yet sitting beside a bunch of certain to be renewed shows?”

Super Fun Night's position in the list is determined by its ratings average, which has yet to “catch up” to its recent ratings declines.

However, its prediction is based primarily on the fact that it didn’t receive a full season order. There are very isolated instances of Fall premiere rookie shows without full season orders being renewed for a second season, but it’s not even remotely the way to bet.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I would have kept Back in the Game over the other two.

  • Why Watch

Sad, but I wouldn’t save any of the shows. Why should I, I don’t watch any of them seriously. OK, I watch Revenge, but because it has become so ridiculously idiotic I watch it for comic relief. How far Revenge has dropped in its potential.

  • AndyB

Save Nashville!! Most underrated show right now on TV

  • RIP Andrea

    I’d keep:

    Once Upon a Time
    Modern Family
    Grey’s Anatomy
    Last Man Standing
    The Goldbergs

  • Sparrow

I picked Super Fun Night. Even though I know it doesn’t have a chance in hell of surviving, that, along with The Goldbergs are my favorite new ABC comedies.

  • C.S.Strowbridge

At this holiday season, can we all put aside our disagreements about TV shows and come together and agree that the Turkey Bear is 100% nightmare fuel.

Only ABC Shows I Watch & Like Are:
Revenge, Betrayal, The Middle, Back In The Game, Modern Family, Last Man Standing, Suburgatory
Only ABC Shows I’m Trying To Like But Don’t:
The Goldbergs (80’s), Trophy Wife (Love Malin), The Neighbors (Aliens)
ABC Shows I Quit Watching Couple Of Years Ago:
Grey’s Anatomy, Once Upon A Time
ABC Shows That I Gave Only One or Two Chances:
Castle, Nashville, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, Super Fun Night
ABC Show I Regret Not Ever Seeing, But Now It’s Too Late:

  • Will

I’d save Don’t Trust the B- in Apt 23.. oh wait.

  • Ted Craig

The Goldbergs and SHIELD are actually pretty compatible.

  • Daniel

This poll makes no sense. The shows with the highest votes arent going to get cancelled anyway. Why list Modern Family and Castle

  • ToXiX

    I’d save Nashville.

I would say The Goldbergs but I’m pretty confident Goldbergs will be the only freshman comedy renewed by ABC.

  • Brandy

Nashville,Once :wonderland (has finally gotten real good the past three episodes),OUAT(though it needs to get back to S1quality),Revenge,Scandal,

  • milo

“Trophy Wife, which is a charming, funny family comedy”

You would think ABC would have learned their lesson about picking titles for shows after Cougar Town.

  • jeezlearnsumthin

Trophy wife is dead. Move on.

  • Jon

Why are the numbers in this poll so low. You do realize you can vote for more than one show?

  • langslow

“What changed between this week and last week that Betrayal is now de facto cancelled? Did I miss a press release? (Not questioning that it will be cancelled, just curious what the news is!)”

ABC’s spring schedule came out, and Betrayal was not on it.

  • Bob

I’d cancel the entire network. It has become the new nbc, and that’s not saying much.

  • Robert Ford

@milo: “You would think ABC would have learned their lesson about picking titles for shows after Cougar Town.”

Spot on. I assumed it was a reality show based on the title at first, and even when I found out it was a comedy, wouldn’t have watched if it hadn’t been getting really good critical press.

Sadly though, I think it’s the new Ben and Kate, and I’m not sure how much a better title would have helped. Yeah it started with low numbers, which could have been partially because of the name, but they’ve gotten even lower, which means that a lot of Nielsen households clearly don’t like it.

As for shows I’d save (sitcoms, since I don’t watch dramas), I’d save Trophy Wife out of selfishness, and based on ratings MF (which I love), The Middle (which is OK), and the Goldbergs (which I personally find insufferably bad). While I may think TG is even worse than the Neighbors, enough people seem to be getting a nostalgia kick from it that its ratings have stabilized around a 1.7. ABC could, and almost certainly will, do worse next season if they cancel it.

  • Networkman

Revenge and Once Upon a Time are the most important dramas for ABC to nurture. I voted that both should be renewed.

As far as the comedies that are on the bubble, The Goldbergs is ABC’s funniest new comedy. And it may just be the best new comedy of the season. Also Last Man Standing should return.
