Each year, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons one or more turkeys from becoming part of the national Thanksgiving dinner. Now you can play the part of the President, and choose which ABC ratings turkeys you'd spare from consumption by the cancellation bear. The big difference being, the turkeys that the President spares actually get to live, your choices (like every internet poll) are just for meaningless fun.

Every scripted show currently on the air for ABC is in the poll.

As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

“Why is Super Fun Night certain to be canceled, yet sitting beside a bunch of certain to be renewed shows?”

Super Fun Night's position in the list is determined by its ratings average, which has yet to “catch up” to its recent ratings declines.

However, its prediction is based primarily on the fact that it didn’t receive a full season order. There are very isolated instances of Fall premiere rookie shows without full season orders being renewed for a second season, but it’s not even remotely the way to bet.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

In my opinion, the quality of The Neighbors have dropped this season. The episodes of this second season have been terrible. I find them to be unfunny. I only look forward to what the young kid Ian Patrick, who plays as Dick Butkus, is going to say. He is the most amusing. I wouldn’t mind seeing him on The Middle as a friend to Brick.

  • s0303

just realized i watch absolutely nothing on abc, the only network i can say that about…

  • nashmic

You cannot find any other TV Drama like REVENGE.

  • anonTV

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is the one show on ABC that I absolutely want renewed.

I like “Modern Family” too, but AoS is a must!

  • Brandy

@langslow, Betrayal was a limited series anyway of 13 episodes

  • valerie

I like the show Trophy wife, I liked Back in the game, the kids were hilarious, funnier than the adults on the show. Sorry to see it go. Last man standing is awesome!! I was a big fan of Revenge but when they moved the night it completely threw me. I missed some shows and now I am so behind I couldn’t catch up. The Middle is not really funny, too much pain involved. Best comedy on tv is Modern Family, it makes me laugh out loud, and a show that does that is a great show.

  • Dahne

If I could only vote for 1 I would say The Goldbergs. It’s definitely the best new comedy and one of the few comedies I actively try to watch instead of just catch it randomly. I really wish it had been moved to Wednesdays.

Since I could vote for multiple, I also put Trophy Wife and SHIELD. Trophy Wife is the underdog of teh season for me once Welcome to the Family got cancelled. I know that SHIELD is not a popular pick but I’m not a comic fan so I like where it has been going. I’m excited that I can root for the heroes as well. Anti-heroes are so overplayed these days that I am flat out tired of them.

  • Dahne

I also watch Wonderland but I did not vote to extend that one. I like the idea that they will wrap everything up in one season. I wish more shows would do that.

  • catsrule

I voted for the 5 shows I watch on ABC: Once Upon a Time, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, The Middle, Castle, and The Goldbergs.

  • omabin

    I would save:

Dramas: Castle, Agents of Shield, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Once Upon a Time, Revenge. I also watch Wonderland but I am fine with it ending as a self contained story

Comedies: Modern Family, The Neighbors and my beloved Suburgatory. I would also save Trophy Wife if possible. I stopped watching right away due to ratings, but I would get back if it were to be renewed.

  • omabin

    By the way,

    @Bill Gorman,

Why is Betrayal listed as cancelled and not something like Hostages or even Dracula? These were all limited series meant to air 13 episodes only this year (a la Sleepy Hollow), which means they would never be part of spring schedule. So I am not sure why would put Betrayal as cancelled and not Hostages. Both are 100% sure to be cancelled, so it’s not very relevant anyway. Maybe I’ve missed an announcement?

Revenge Will Be Saved from Cancellation ! Fans Relax and Enjoy The Wedding of the century !

Overnight ratings for Agents of SHIELD for those interested, curtsey of Marc Berman:

Minus CBS’ “NCIS” in the competitive mix, ABC opened with freshman drama “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” at an above average 5.9 rating/10 share in the overnights at 8 p.m. Comparably, that was 31 percent above the 4.5/ 8 on the week-ago Tuesday (4.5/ 7), and it tied an encore of annual CBS holiday special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” for first in the hour. Both are expected to resonate in the young adult demos.

That’s one massive leap for SHIELD!

As for the Which Show Would You Save? None, most of my ABC shows are in zero danger.

  • Walker

Joint vote for The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife. Best new comedies of the season, but they have an awful timeslot after a show that everybody watches on DVR. I’m disappointed ABC didn’t move one of them into the post-MF slot at midseason.

  • jimbo

People NEED to watch Trophy Wife! It’s one of funniest sitcoms out there right now! Modern Family is so bland now. I have not laughed hard since season 3 I think.

  • Fred

    Shows I watch on ABC:

    OUAT- not at its best
    REVENGE- much improved
BETRAYAL-dull but better than earlier eps
    GOLDBERGS- enjoyable, but not hilarious
MIDDLE-most consistently funny family sitcom in recent memory
SUPER FUN NIGHT-cute and light. Good for a few chuckles.
NASHVILLE-not nearly as entertaining as last season. But still like it.
OUAT WONDERLAND- Most under rated show on ABC. Some eps are better than the original.
SHARK TANK-Nice way to end work week.
    20/20-same as above

  • Bill Gorman

“Why is Betrayal listed as cancelled and not something like Hostages or even Dracula?”

Bad information, and I failed to correct my spreadsheet.

The NYT had reported it was canceled last week.

Later, ABC contacted us to deny that report, and I failed to update my spreadsheet before this week’s post. Now fixed.

Shows I want to watch, but no time:

MODERN FAMILY-watched nearly every ep of the first couple of seasons. The 3rd began to bore me. Never caught up after that.
GREY’S- used to watch this occasionally. Not for me.
SCANDAL- Never watched a single ep. The previews look awful. Especially the quick one liners from the lead. Lots of people I know love this.

ABC shows I would watch if were on today:

BODY OF PROOF- Didn’t have time to watch every ep, but when I did, I always enjoyed it.
V- Never missed an ep. Loved it
    PAN AM- Very well produced.
BROTHER’S & SISTERS- amazing ensemble cast
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES-Never missed an ep. Even weaker seasons were enjoyable
    LOST- Nearly flawless.
    FLASHFORWARD- Imperfect but enjoyable
    LIFE ON MARS-Same as above
    INVASION- Same as above
HAPPY ENDINGS- Not consistent, but when it was good, nothing was funnier
COUGAR TOWN- Nice its on TBS. Very well done.

That’s a really disturbing picture of genetic-engineering run amok!

Best thing “Revenge” did was hire Karine Massey, and bring back {Spoiler Alert}.
