Each year, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons one or more turkeys from becoming part of the national Thanksgiving dinner. Now you can play the part of the President, and choose which ABC ratings turkeys you'd spare from consumption by the cancellation bear. The big difference being, the turkeys that the President spares actually get to live, your choices (like every internet poll) are just for meaningless fun.

Every scripted show currently on the air for ABC is in the poll.

As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

“Why is Super Fun Night certain to be canceled, yet sitting beside a bunch of certain to be renewed shows?”

Super Fun Night's position in the list is determined by its ratings average, which has yet to “catch up” to its recent ratings declines.

However, its prediction is based primarily on the fact that it didn’t receive a full season order. There are very isolated instances of Fall premiere rookie shows without full season orders being renewed for a second season, but it’s not even remotely the way to bet.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    Thanks! That makes sense!

As a long time viewer of Primetime soaps, here are some possible explanations:

    Dream sequence
Twin sister pretending to be dead character or just a new character
Different person had surgery to resemble dead character
Character never died, was rescued or escaped in the nick of time.

I don’t get how Nashville is on the bubble.. All my Facebook,Twitter, get glue friends love that show.. It’s one of my favs. And I have seen several posts by others that say te same thing. Wth.

  • Fred

Unfortunately social media doesn’t factor in with ratings, yet…

Nashville ratings are about the same as Revenge. Not good. However Nashville does air at 10:00 ( lower expectations ) so it has that on its side. On the negative , competition is fairly weak Wed 10:00 while Revenge has extremely tough competition.
I’m hoping both get renewed as I am a fan of both.
Creatively and musically I feel Nashville needs to step up its game . Although even now I still enjoy it. Just not as much as season 1 ( especially early in the season).
Revenge has been very good this season . Such a shame so many fans abandoned it last season when some eps were extremely boring and complicated.

    Next Year Schedule…

    8:00 Once Upon A Time
9:00 Nashville (then Resurrection for midseason shall it survive)
    10:00 Revenge

    8:00 Dancing With The Stars
    10:00 Castle

    8:00 Agents of SHIELD
9:00 Dancing With The Stars RESULTS
    10:00 New Drama

    8:00 The Middle
    8:30 The Goldbergs
    9:00 Modern Family
9:30 Trophy Wife / New Comedy
    10:00 New Drama (…or Revenge?!)

8:00 The Taste / New Reality Show
    9:00 Greys Anatomy
    10:00 Scandal

    8:00 Last Man Standing
    8:30 New Comedy
    9:00 Shark Tank
    10:00 20/20 / New Drama (for midseason)

ABC should keep Mondays and Thursdays the same. FINALLY move The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife to Wednesdays, to create the ultimate Family Comedy Wednesday, with a new drama or Nashville, or even Revenge at 10:00. Keep Sundays the same, but keep Revenge at 10:00 or move it back to Wednesdays, just do NOT move it back to 9:00! ABC should severely consider premiering a new drama at midseason on Fridays at 10:00 after Shark Tank, it could really work.

I say bring back DWTS results at 9:00 on Tuesdays, with SHIELD leading off the night at 8:00. Since DWTS consistently garners over 10-13 million viewers a week, they could really use the results show on Tuesdays at 9:00 to help launch a new drama at 10:00, or even keep Killer Women/Mind Games there, shall they survive this year.

Cancel The Neighbors, Wonderland, Betrayal, Super Fun Night.

Keep Nashville, Revenge, Once Upon A Time, Castle, Modern Family, The Middle, Last Man Standing.

All of ABC’s super-popular 2011 shows, Revenge, Once Upon A Time, Last Man Standing, Scandal, will all be renewed due to syndication purposes.

  • Fred

    @MATT M.

    Sensible line up.
Although I doubt ABC will air another hour of DWTS. 2 hours a week seems to be enough. Agreed overall viewership is impressive , however it does skew VERY old. I rather see a scripted male oriented drama at Tues 9.
I also doubt ABC will renew Trophy wife and air after MF. I’m sure they will try something new. After all these years it’s crazy that ABC can’t find suitable sitcoms to follow Middle and MF. Trophy Wife would have been a good fit this season. Goldbergs is perfect after Middle. ABC should NOT cancel it.

    Next Season schedule:

8:00 – Dancing with the Stars
    10:00 – Castle

    8:00 – SHIELD
9:00 – Dancing with the Stars: Results
    10:00 – Nashville

    8:00 – The Middle
    8:30 – The Goldbergs
    9:00 – Modern Family
    9:30 – NEW COMEDY
    10:00 – NEW DRAMA

    8:00 – NEW DRAMA
    9:00 – Grey’s Anatomy
    10:00 – Scandal

    8:00 – Last Man Standing
    9:00 – Shark Tank
    10:00 – 20/20

    8:00 – Once Upon a Time
    9:00 – NEW DRAMA
    10:00 – Revenge

  • Fred

Is DWTS results really a possibility next season? Well here is what I think ABC should do next season:

    Wonderful World Of Disney-7:00
    OUAT- 8:00
    New drama- 9:00-high profile
Nashville- 10:00-loyal fan base should follow it.

Various Disney produced programing. used to work real well back in the days. ABC can always bring back AFHV or some other cheap show if this proves a disaster.

    New male oriented drama-9:00
New Drama-10:00-I miss BOP here, but never going to happen.

New sitcom-9:30-would love Trophy Wife here but not going to happen.
    Revenge-10:00-back where it belongs.

    New Drama- female oriented

That move should help the 8:00 problem. Yes Grey’s is too adult oriented for 8:00, but ABC should take the risk.

    New sitcom-8:30
    Shark Tank-9:00

  • Fred

Sun 7:00- Wonderful World of Disney would sometimes be 2 hours. Especially when OUAT is on hiatus . Other times 1 hour and concluding the next week. Programs can consist of a rotating wheel of family based dramas, adventures , animation classics etc…. The possibilities are endless.
If OUAT continues to drop and settles under a 2.0 it might be a good idea for ABC to move it to another night and air it’s presumably final season in another slot .

Moving Grey’s to 8:00 sounds crazy. But it can surely perform than anything else there.

  • iSayso

    So easy, The Goldbergs!

  • brutony!

Neither-both are turkeys! And so are most of the rest!

  • Dave

The Goldbergs is the only show on ABC that I watch – it’s definitely worth saving.

  • Christina

The only one currently without five smiles that I picked was The Goldbergs. It’s funny and charming and deserves to carry on.

  • Darkridedan

Of the shows that need saving, I enjoyed and thus voted for Back in the Game. Super Fat Night, not so much.

  • Steve

So sad Back In The Game is canceled, but so looking forward to Suburgatory coming back!

  • Alex

I came to this page expecting to root for Agents of SHIELD, but then I saw it has 5 green grins, despite the doom and gloom expressed by some regarding its chances. So it doesn’t need my help – but poor little Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is a cute show and deserves to continue. Fortunately it’ll be allowed to finish its storyline as a miniseries if it gets canned (or so I understand from the showrunners’ comments), but I wouldn’t mind seeing it continue. Failing that, I hope the Knave and Alice at least get imported to OUAT later.

  • Scs790

    Nashville ,Nashville !!!!!!

  • JK

Well this is a pleasant surprise – it seems nothing I remotely give a damn about is anywhere near the chopping block, at least for this network.

    That bear, though… those EYES…
