ABC Monday Prime 8-11pm (13.3 million and 2.1/6 in AD18-49): ABC was Monday’s most-watched broadcaster for the 4th week in a row (13.3 million), topping runner-up NBC by 20% (11.1 million). ABC’s Dancing continued to draw more viewers than NBC’s The Voice (14.2 million vs. 11.3 million), holding a 2.9 million viewer advantage (biggest advantage this season in head-to-head competition).  In addition, ABC tied for #2 on the night in Adults 18-49.  ABC’s Castle was the night’s most-watched scripted TV show for the 6th time in its last 7 telecasts, topping NBC’s Blacklist (11.4 million vs. 10.8 million).

  • Building for the 2nd week in a row, ABC marked its most-watched Monday in 8 months and equaled its best young adult number since season-premiere Monday – since 3/18/13 and 9/23/13, respectively.

DWTS 8-10pm (14.2 million and 2.2/6 in AD18-49):  Building its numbers on night 1 of its 2-night finale, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was Monday’s most-watched entertainment show for the 5th week in a row. Bill Engvall was the next celebrity dancer eliminated from the competition. Growing week to week in Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%), DWTS drew its biggest audience since its season premiere and scored a 9-week high with young adults – since 9/16/13 and 9/23/13, respectively.  Season to date, Dancing is up 4% in Adults 18-49.

Castle 10-11pm (11.4 million and 2.1/6 in AD18-49):  During the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s winter finale of Castle stood as the most-watched TV show, leading Blacklist by 6% (11.4 million vs. 10.8 million).  Castle was up week to week in Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%), with its biggest audience since its season opener 9 weeks ago on 9/23/13.  Season to date, Castle is up 15% in Adults 18-49.

Too bad with all those viewers Castle only got a measly 2.1 to Blacklist’s 3.0. ABC your spin is weak.

  • THE OLD MAN

    Keep those old folks happy!

  • F

Ultra happy for Castle. Even though it may not have beaten Blacklist’s 3.0, as Chris_SAdvisor so “politely” pointed out, it is steady in its ratings for a 6th season and doing well on the slot. I don’t understand the need to hate on another show’s success – simple don’t watch it: that is the worst you can really do to it.

And yeah, old people are happy but the young fandom too. No need for the hate-rade.

Great for CASTLE for I love this series!! I am going to really miss the series during it’s December break. Guess I will just have to watch it on the TNT network. I hear they will have a 12 hour marathon on Thanksgiving Day!

  • It’s funny

Castle has many, many younger viewers.

  • LeighLee

Yup. Lots of younger viewers. I think the youngest I’ve seen were 9 year olds. Kills me when ppl say it’s for old people (not that there aren’t older viewers too, but I only know 1 of those). Smh

I’ll be watching the current season over again on DVR over the break.

  • Briana

I absolutely love Castle. Don’t understand how demos really work. How do u have tons of viewers but a lower demo than another less viewed show? But oh we’ll. I’m just glad Castle’s doing great!! Will continue to be a loyal watcher and supporter of the show cast and crew. You guys have made Castle a childhood memory forever and Always. I’m so glad Castle exists; I’ve never obsessed over something as fervently as I have over Castle. It’s both a blessing and a curse (it’s making my grades suffer hahahahhahahab) but I don’t regret watching it or spending countless hour a rewatching eps. I live you to death Castle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont’t get this.If a show, doesn’t matter which,is not a champion in demo must be cancelled? The viewers under 18 or over 49 have leprosy? If a show has such ratings as Castle must be considered a success. In my opinion blacklist is good for someone who likes the spying dramas but personally I love the humor and the light view over crime of Castle. Not so serious and dark as CSI or other crime drama

  • JTV

It has a lower demo because Castle trends older audience. :D That’s why Scandal and Grey’s has a higher demo and a lower audience—those shows trend lower.

  • JTV

    Younger, not older. :D

And honestly? This was a network press release, so it’s hyped up and full of your typical corporate BS. And a lot of factors go into giving a show another season or canceling it. And not all of it applies to demo or audience.

castle is the second best show on tv next to DWTS but ABC doesn’t advertise it. are the network people nuts? They could make it even more popular if then would throw a few ad dollars at it and make the best watched show on tv. When do you see the actors as guests on the talk shows? Almost never.
