Each year, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons one or more turkeys from becoming part of the national Thanksgiving dinner. Now you can play the part of the President, and choose which CBS ratings turkeys you'd spare from consumption by the cancellation bear. The big difference being, the turkeys that the President spares actually get to live, your choices (like every internet poll) are just for meaningless fun.

Every scripted show currently on the air for CBS is in the poll.

As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I’m 83% sure that The Mentalist won’t be renewed for next season. Sundays will be quite different next year methinks.

  • Gavin

Save the Good Wife, best show on network TV, second best on TV (behind GoT).

  • Bad Wolf

Woohoo ! The Good Wife is leading the pack ! Pure fun, but it’s nice to see a lot of people still care about it !
    I’d save :
    – The Good Wife, of course, it’s at its peak creatively and its ratings are not cataclysmic yet, it proved with episodes 5×05 to 5×07 that it could still fight for its life.
    – Elementary, which is a much needed departure from all the other cop shows.
    – Mom, because Alison Janney could appear in the biggest dud ever seen, I’d still watch it religiously, this woman rules.

  • epidrone

Elementary is my favorite show of the last five years. So refreshing and clever.

  • Midnight

Elementary should be renewed as long as its ratings don’t drop drastically. There is hope for both Mom and the Crazy Ones, we will have to wait until spring though. And I think the Good Wife will squeeze out a final, shortened season if CBS doesn’t announce this season as its last in February or something.

  • gerry

the good wife, obviously, as it is the best show on television. and two broke girls. that show has really lifted itself from its HORRIBLE sophmore writing slump.

  • Cyrax86

    The Good Wife

  • Nasir

Mom & HF0! only shows I watch on this network other than Survivor, though I do want to watch Criminal Minds.

  • Ronak

Elementary por favor. They can scarp The Mentalist/The Good Wife, I don’t care.

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

I feel like in January, we might hear of another 3 year renewal for the Big Bang Theory. It would take it to 10 seasons, which would make me happy enough. It was much lower rated in season 4 and got a 3 year deal.

  • DenverDean

TM is a goner. Granted the “big” reveal ended up a week late and opposite both another big SNF game and AMAs, but a 1.6 for the conclusion to a 5 1/4 season storyline is far below what one would expect. I can’t imagine that TM 2.0 will suddenly spike to make it viable, esp without it being a CBS production.

H50 has settled nicely into Friday nights and has made that night stable. I really don’t see CBS messing with Wed or Fri nights. I do see NCIS:LA moving, it’s time NCIS help build another show, whether it’s the upcoming spin-off or another promising drama.

With the loss of HIMYM and, possibly, TAHM, CBS will pare down to six comedies again. Too much bleeding on Thursday from TBBT. I still think CBS should’ve put TAHM at 9 with TCOs following. Back to back TM/TCO was not a good idea.

  • Dan S

In this CBS poll we can only vote for 1 show. In the others we could vote for more than 1. My sole vote goes to POI which has fallen in the ratings on Tues but is better than ever.

  • r0ckmypants

@Bill – We can only vote for one show on this one :-(

But I’m kind of ok with it, because this is the funniest picture I think you’ve ever posted in the Cancellation Bear articles.

  • psychic

I went on a Yahoo article about the Red John reveal and pretty much all the comments, of which there were several hundred, went along the lines of “Thank god it’s over, now I’m going to start watching again”. I know a couple hundred isn’t a lot, but if this view represents a lot more people’s feelings about The Mentalist, we could see a spike in ratings… maybe…?

  • Bill Gorman

“@Bill – We can only vote for one show on this one “

    Now fixed. Vote away!

  • Tran

Keepers: NCIS, NCIS: LA, Person of Interest, Criminal Minds, CSI, Big Bang Theory, Crazy Ones, Elementary, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, Good Wife and Mentalist. Goners: 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Mom, Hostages, The Millers and Two and a Half Men.

  • enri

    Keep the mentalist please

  • TV Viewer

The Good Wife, and The Crazy Ones are the shows most at risk of cancellation I’d save.
As far as the rest of the pack, I’d renew: NCIS, NCIS: LA, The Big Bang Theory, Person of Interest, Criminal Minds, CSI, Two Broke Girls, Mike and Molly, Hawaii Five-O and Blue Bloods.

  • a p garcia

This is a no-brainer since Hostages is a limited run series and thankfully it is almost over. The only question is how it managed to be on Monday for its entire run! I would choose TM and TM over TGW.
