Each year, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons one or more turkeys from becoming part of the national Thanksgiving dinner. Now you can play the part of the President, and choose which CBS ratings turkeys you'd spare from consumption by the Cancellation Bear. The big difference being, the turkeys that the President spares actually get to live, your choices (like every internet poll) are just for meaningless fun.

Every scripted show currently on the air for CBS is in the poll.

As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2014
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2014
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Person of Interest. I don’t understand why this show is not more popular. It’s a thriller.

  • Dahne

At least this turkey bear is less traumatic than the one on ABC’s. That one was creepy like a Dr. Moreau test.

I chose Elementary and The Crazy Ones. Although I watch other shows on CBS, these are the only ones I am worried about.

  • catsrule

Hostages, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest, NCIS, and The Mentalist

  • omabin

    I would save:
Comedies: The Big Bang Theory, The Crazy Ones. I wouldn’t save How I Met Your Mother since it’s ending.
Dramas: Person of Interest, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0. Can I also save Intelligence in advance? I would!

  • CBSviewer

    I would save:
Dramas: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, Person of Interest, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods.
Comedies: HIMYM, The Crazy Ones, The Big Bang Theory, The Millers, Mike & Molly and 2 Broke Girls.

  • sklc

    save: TGW POI

I also like Elementary and CM but I won’t miss it that much

  • The Colonel

It’s a good thing it’s the last season of HIMYM, that last episode was one of the worst half hour’s of TV I’ve ever seen. What writer decided that an entire episode of rhyming was a good idea should never work in Hollywood again. I stop watching after the first segment when I realized that was all it was going to be.

  • Rodolfo

Nowadays, The Good Wife is the best tv series.

  • AP076

    @Networkman and s0303

You both do realize the Emmy nominations will be announced long after the decisions to renew or cancel The Good Wife and The Crazy Ones have been made, right?

  • John

I actually think Mom and Crazy Ones have more of a chance surviving than The Millers. It drops way too much from The Big Bang Theory and its not so far off from those shows when they have much weaker lead ins. The Millers will drop like a rock once it moves away from Big Bang. Its also much less well-recieved than Mom and Crazy Ones. Also, CBS has dropped shows that pulled decent ratings but dropped majorly from Big Bang. Just look at Rob, which did even better than The Millers when Big Bang was pulling lower numbers.

  • C Dawg

Why vote on a show that is already in it’s final season?

  • Katy

DEAR CBS, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!!!!! IM TIRED OF THE DELAYS SUNDAYS NIGHTS AT 10 PM. I REALLY WANT TO WATCH THE MENTALIST, it’s the BEST SHOW!!.

  • Betty

the mentalist is the only show my friends and i watch at cbs please dont cancel it

  • Steve

Dramas: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, Person of Interest and Blue Bloods.

Comedies: The Big Bang Theory, The Millers, Mike & Molly and 2 Broke Girls.

How I Met Your Mother is finally ending, so as much as the show is doing well, there’s no point in not axing it. Nine seasons is enough.

Two and a Half Men needs to die. The ratings in raw viewers have plummeted close to 30% from the first eight episodes last year (the 18-49 is even worse), and the actors are commanding high salaries. Chuck Lorre has left his legacy, and still will have two decent shows on TV. Mom was a flop and 2 1/2 Men needs to die.

  • Antonio Simeone

It’s one of those things that always confuses me that a show like The Mentalist can be in danger of being cancelled when it had nearly 11 million viewers last Sunday, but because it doesn’t get massive 18-49 numbers it’s bound for the scrapheap…do people over 50 not count as consumers anymore?

  • jennifer

The Mentalist is the best show at CBS !

  • Stylish

SAVE HOSTAGES! It’s got great potential as a political thriller/family drama even beyond it’s current premise. It’s set in Washington DC, so there’s all sorts of political intrigue and crime stories they can tell. If they need ideas, they can call me, because I’ve got plenty. SAVE HOSTAGES!

  • 3terms4obama

Renew The Good Wife and move it to a 10pm slot.

  • latoya

THE MENTALIST. I’m so sick of the people that have been wanting Red John to die for the last five years and now they are not hapy with the outcome of him. I think they are about to fall in love with the show all over again and before May gets here it will be renewed. Bring on more of The Mentalist. Oh and the Rigsby, Van Pelt Spin off.

  • Nevid

I would save The Mentalist, The Good Wife, Mom, 2 Broke Girls, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, Person of Interest and especially Elementary.
