Lady Gaga Muppets

Ah, Thanksgiving a day of gratitude, turkey, carbohydrates, parades and football. Lots and lots of football. This year, the television gods have decided to create a new Thanksgiving tradition: puppets. ABC is airing Lady Gaga and the Muppets' Holiday Spectacular, featuring the pop star doing her best to live up to the awesomeness of Debbie Harry on the original Muppet Show:

Coincidentally, on FOX a new episode of Glee features the New Directions gang singing with puppets.  It's a given that both programs will be clobbered by football on NBC, but which puppets will prove more popular among adults 18-49? Lady Gaga's new album has been underperforming, which is a strike against the Muppets special, but Kermit and Miss Piggy have a loyal following. Though Glee has struggled this season, Gleeks may enjoy seeing the felt versions of their favorite characters. Make your predictions then go enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Can both shows get ratings below 0.0? Because I would like that to happen.

  • CrimTV

Lady Gaga will definitely beat Glee! Glee is currently at the ratings the show scored on Thanksgiving last season.

  • Nick

Lady Gaga is still a ratings draw, and the Muppets have always been a ratings draw, so both combined should equate to a pretty good rating.

  • Eric McInnis

Probably Lady Gaga, as no one watched Community in puppet form. ;)

  • psychic

Everyone loves the Muppets. I say they’ll win, with or without Lady Gaga’s no doubt charming additions to the show.

Why are Fox even new tonight? If stay above a 1.0 ill be shocked.

  • Jay

I don’t understand why Fox insists on airing new episodes of Xfactor and Glee on thanksgiving. Everyone is out shopping or with their family. I expect under 1.0. Glee is horrible this year, its boring and nothing is happening.

  • Marc

I am excited for Glee, but only because I saw the commerical where they sing “What does the fox say”

What does the Fox say???? Probably “I need more viewers”

  • DTravel

Muppets vs. Gleepets? Who slipped hallucinogenics into my morning tea?

  • Babar Suhail

Why are we able to select all three option in the poll?

  • JoeHamm

This won’t matter to me, because I’m recording both shows for later viewing, but I expect Gaga (1.5) to be bigger than Glee, which is expected to hit an all-time low (likely a 1.2). This is only because Fox doesn’t have the later game this year, and will thus suffer at the hand of the Ravens.

For the night, NBC will obviously win, CBS will be second, powered by the late NFL lead-in, which could work in Crazy Ones’ favor (3-episode sample set), then ABC (Charlie Brown will be lucky to get at least a 1.6), Fox will be lucky to reach a 1.0, CW dead last, as usual.

I don’t watch Glee so I have no horse in the race here but I don’t get why is FOX wasting a new episode tonight. Seems really stupid IMO

  • Jay

Glee is going to post their lowest ratings ever. Everything bombs on Thanksgiving!

  • CBSviewer

Last season Glee got a 2.2 on Thanksgiving, this season it will probably be around 1.3-1.5.

  • The 47th

Despite Lady Gaga, Muppets should win this.

  • Mark

2 years ago, lady gaga performed a very similar holiday special on thanksgiving called “a very gaga thanksgiving” and that got a 1.6 and 5.5 million viewers (and that special was muppet-less)…..so I think lady gaga will come out on top over the underperforming glee

  • KC

Gaga doesn’t even start until 9:30 p.m. (EST) – my kids are in bed by then.

  • kb

Um, football, food, family, more football and some more football. That’s a perfect thankgiving.

  • Matt M.

    Predictions…

    Glee: 1.2 / 3.8 million viewers

    Muppets/Lady Gaga: 1.5 / 5.0 million viewers

    @CBSviewer

“Last season Glee got a 2.2 on Thanksgiving, this season it will probably be around 1.3-1.5.”

Actually, the Glee episode on Thanksgiving last year (“Dynamic Duets”) got a 1.5. The following episode was “Thanksgiving” and it got a 2.2. Is that what you were thinking of?
