Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Addendum to above: And 1.5-1.6 with football. It’s up to CBS whether that’s enough for its most lauded critical darling to eke out another season. It has been renewed on these numbers.

  • Dan

Amazing Race continues to suck the life out of CBS’ Sunday ratings. I like the show, but serious it is time to move it.

  • LeeH

I stopped watching OUAT a few weeks into the second season, but I started watching OUATIW and am enjoying that one. I think it is much better.

Marty, everything you post is to repeat how bad TM and TGW ratings are. We get it, you are hoping they get cancelled. Not certain what TV shows ever did to you to make you want to keep coming back to let everyone know how low the ratings are. However, a show that only lost .1 share when airing in the 11 hour just before Monday after a long weekend is not bad. I’m looking forward to more of both shows.

@Psychic. I agree. Enjoyed The Mentalist last night. BTW do you know that chickens and pigeons can actually be “hypnotized” be holding them on the ground and drawing a line past their heads. They can lay transfixed for up to half hour. Also holding them in their sleeping position, head tucked in their chest will make them quiet for a time.

  • JR35

OUAT hasn’t adjusted up as of late, but would be nice if it did this week- good Regina-centricepisode.

ron and hel-luhr what is cbs going to cancel instead of goodwife and I will be here where were you when goodwife was behind mentalist? yes it was renewed before but now they have enough episodes for syndication

  • ron

@Marty are you getting what they’re cooking? Your bias is showing and it has you locked into making absurd predictions that will, just like last year, leave you with egg all over your face.

  • Z

Shows on other networks did okay to very well, partly due to the non competitive football game. Redskins were out of the running and Giants were hanging on by a thread.

  • Ike

@Clarke and @Jacquincloset, re: the Sunday night movies that used to air on the broadcast nets, the reason they got rid of them is because the ratings were declining SHARPLY towards the end of their lifespans. The performance of “Christmas in Conway” is more evidence of that. Not too impressive!

And @Jacquincloset, I’m sure the networks see the On Demand ratings too, even if we don’t see them here. It must be impossible for them NOT to see those numbers. But they’re not releasing them, maybe because they’re smaller than some of us expect they would be.

  • Freddy Arrow

Has Nielsen ever released east coast vs west coast numbers? The Good Wife and The Mentalist always start on time on the West Coast, so a comparison could shed some light on “football kills” Sunday night CBS shows argument.

  • Bradley

I could see them canceling a higher-rated show that doesn’t get as much award’s recognition. CBS likes being able to say it owns the only Broadcast Drama to be nominated for awards.

  • ron

@Marty Hostages, the Mentalist, two comedies qill be sufficient xancellations for CBS since finding new shows that click has been real difficult for all the networks..

  • Hel-luhr

I am not sure, but I think if it were to come down to a choice between Good Wife and The Mentalist, sadly I think The Mentalist would be carted off into the sunset. Good Wife is an in-house production and the critical acclaim is one (admittedly small) factor that can push a bubble show to renewal.

  • anotherhour

@Dan, Theres nothing wrong with TAR, its now a sunday night staple, where the heck would you move it to?

ron I have never predicted goodwife to be canceled before this yr cbs doesn’t work that way. that’s why elementary will have 3 more seasons. so tell me is elementary , bb, Hawaii 5-0 csi, criminal minds, poi going to be canceled instead. cbs has at least 3 new dramas ready to go possibly 4.

  • Networkman

I do believe The Good Wife will get one final season next year. And CBS would be smart to put it on at 10pm. Since Revenge was not on, I tried to watch The Good Wife’s 100th episode last night. I have a hard time connecting to Julianna Margulies. In my opinion, she has no appeal/charisma. She comes off very distant and cold. Even though lawyer shows are mostly a thing of the past, I don’t doubt this is a quality show. But every time I tune in I don’t see enough range from Julianna as a performer.

  • Hel-luhr

Which are the 3 new CBS dramas ready to go? Haven’t been keeping track.

If Mentalist and Hostages are gone, that leaves two slots. Is at least one of the 3 dramas a mid-seasoner like Hostages??

  • ron

@Marty CBS realizes the utter failure this year of new shows, as has all the networks, and they will be keeping their finger away from the cancellation button and premiering fewer new dramas; replacing Hostages and the Mentalist and adding a third drama by reducing the number of comedies that failed miserably will give them three openings.

  • NewEnglandMike

The only shows I watched live last night were The Walking Dead and The Talking Dead. Can’t wait to see the ratings on those two.

  • ron

@networkman The critics, the award shows, and the fans that vote, have a solid rebuttal to your clueless observation.
