UNIVISION’S “AQUÍ Y AHORA” GENERATES DOUBLE DIGIT AUDIENCE GROWTH DURING RECENT NOVEMBER SWEEP

 

Higher Year-Over-Year Audience Gains than CBS’ “60 Minutes”

 

MIAMI – DECEMBER 4, 2013 – Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications, Inc, the leading media company serving Hispanic America, has announced that its popular primetime newsmagazine “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now), reported year-over-year double-digit audience growth in the most recent November sweep among Total Viewers 2+ (+31%), Adults 18-49 (+25%) and Adults 18-34 (+31%).

“Aquí y Ahora” (+25%) also delivered higher year-over-year audience growth compared to CBS’ “60 Minutes” (+6%) among the key Adult 18-49 viewers. The program averaged 2.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.2 million Adults 18-49 and 485,000 Adults 18-34 and attracted an audience 14 years younger (47 years old) than CBS’ “60 Minutes” (61 years old).

 

KEY NOVEMBER 2013 HIGHLIGHTS1:

 

·       “El Señor de los Cielos- La Verdadera Historia” (Lord of the Skies- The True Story), which aired on Sunday, November 17, 2013 (7 p.m. ET/PT), averaged 1.2 million Adults 18-49 with a (+37%) increase over its prior telecast. The one-hour special recounted the life and exploits of Mexican national, Carrillo Fuentes.

·       “El Chapo: El Eterno Fugitivo” (El Chapo: The Eternal Fugitive) which aired on Sunday, November 3, 2013 (7 p.m. ET/PT), set record breaking audience levels in the current 2013 calendar year with 1.6 million Adults 18-49, a (+88%) gain compared to previous telecast. The one-hour special followed the trail of the infamous Joaquín Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo Guzmán” (Shorty Guzmán), in an attempt to paint a clearer picture of this ruthless and enigmatic drug lord.

 

Locally, “Aquí y Ahora” delivered year-over-year growth in the most recent November sweep2:

·         Among Persons 2+ in Los Angeles (+17%), Miami (+13%), Dallas (+90%), Chicago (+25%), Phoenix (+25%) and Sacramento (+44%)

·         Among Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles (+13%), Miami (+10%), Dallas (+110%), Chicago (+63%), San Francisco (+25%), Phoenix (+22%) and Sacramento (+20%)

·         and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles (+50%), Miami (+7%), Dallas (+83%), San Francisco (+80%), Phoenix (+125%) and Sacramento (+114%)

 

Additionally, “Aquí y Ahora” on KMEX in Los Angeles out-delivered “60 Minutes” on KCBS/CBS by +64% among Adults 18-49 and +114% among Adults 18-34.

 

“Aquí y Ahora” also had a strong month in social media, beating “60 Minutes” (CBS) and “20/20” (ABC) in tweets per unique (Source: Nielsen SocialGuide).
