DAYTIME EMMY AWARD NOMINEE THORSTEN KAYE JOINS CBS DAYTIME’S “The Bold AND THE BEAUTIFUL” ON FRIDAY, DEC. 13

Kaye Assumes the Role of “Ridge Forrester”

Daytime Emmy Award nominee Thorsten Kaye joins CBS Daytime’s The Bold AND THE BEAUTIFUL in the pivotal role of “Ridge Forrester,” beginning Friday, Dec. 13. Ridge left town in the fall of 2012, and will return to find many things very different from the way he left them.

Kaye is best known for his roles on “One Life To Live” and “Port Charles,” for which he was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards, as well as “All My Children,” for which he was also nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards.  His additional credits include a recurring role on “Smash.”

“Thorsten's powerful screen presence and vast range as an actor has intrigued me for years,” said The Bold AND THE BEAUTIFUL’s Executive Producer and Head Writer Bradley Bell. “The timing was right, so I took the opportunity to cast him in the role of Ridge Forrester. I'm confident Thorsten will make this role unique on every level.”

For more than two decades, The Bold AND THE BEAUTIFUL has explored the entangled lives, passionate loves, high-stakes battles, loyalties, tragedies and the inspiring triumphs of the Forrester, Logan and Spencer families.  With sensuality, complex characters and intricate and compelling storylines, B&B is at its core a gripping tale of high-fashion glamour, honor and most importantly family.  The Bold AND THE BEAUTIFUL, which celebrated its 26th anniversary on March 23, 2013, is a Bell-Phillip Television production, broadcast weekdays (1:30 PM-2:00 PM, ET; 12:30-1:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

    Really looking forward to this.

Thorsten Kaye is a great actor with screen presence, but Ridge is being recasted for the wrong reasons.

For the viewers tuning in from AMC, it will be easier for them since they don’t know the show’s history. But for veteran BB viewers like myself, I can’t get too excited.

  • Mike

I just hope he does better at hiding his accent than he did in one promo I saw. I like Thorsten Kaye but I can’t even begin to imagine him as Ridge.

At least B&B got a top tier actor who would seem to come with his own built-in audience following from his long and popular stints on ABC’s OLTL, AMC, and “Port Charles”.

Personally, I would have chosen Lorenzo Lamas for the role of Ridge. I know that Lamas played a role on B&B a few years ago, but since when has that ever stopped a daytime soap from recasting. Quite a few actors have played more than one role on one soap (at different times, not counting all the numerous evil twins/look-a-like storylines).

  • Mike

There were rumors that they wanted Peter Reckell — at least awhile ago that was the rumor.

My personal choice would have been Stephen Nichols. He is a great actor. I know it is a different look but he would have looked like Susan Flannery’s son. He also has a built in audience.

  • James

Mr. Nichols has been rumored for many months of going back to GH though.

  • Mike

That was probably for the upcoming story that Thaao Penghlis is returning for James. GH’s cast just keeps growing and growing.

  • Chris

What happen to the old Ridge Forrester?

  • Ruth

    I liked the old Ridge.

  • Nancy Morgan

This guy, Kaye, does not fit the role AT ALL. He has an accent. He is not even good looking. He looks like a dirty bum, no shave, no class, no acting ability. Why would you choose this creep to play a suave , very cool, good looking self assured guy for Ridge. Please recast again! Yuck!
